How to Get There
From the point we booked, the hotel staff offered assistance with visas, airport transfers, tours and any other requirements we had. Our room was large, well furnished and comfortable, with a view of Trinity Cathedral. The communal areas looked very welcoming, although we didn't get the opportunity to use them, apart from to take advantage of the computer and printer available to guests, to print off our boarding passes. We found all of the staff to be friendly and approachable, and very happy to help with whatever we needed. The variety offered at breakfast was excellent and the two evening meals we enjoyed in the restaurant were very good.
We would definitely recommend the private tours offered by the hotel. We found these to be really informative and enjoyable, and helped to make the most of our time in St Petersburg.
The guesthouse is a lovely old building that was been updated and well-maintained. You will find hardwood floors, ceiling beams, and a lovely garden. The staff speak very good English and are extremely helpful - calling a cab, booking tickets to the Malinsky, providing sightseeing advice, etc. We had two rooms with a living room in the middle, which was perfect.
We stayed at Alexander House for 9 nights and could not have asked for a better experience. This was our first visit to Russia from Australia and we loved it. The service was exceptional including assistance with everything from translating our phone plan to recommending local restaurants. The Bali hotel room was quiet and comfortable with lovely heated bathroom floors. It was great having access to 24 hour meals and the restaurant food was very high quality. It is 10 mins walk to the Mariinsky Theatre, and local supermarket quite close. We also booked a number of English speaking tours through the hotel and the local guide was excellent. All in all, a wonderful experience. Thanks for looking after us so well!
This place is a very nice and typical boutique hotel with a very cosy feel inside. There are just about 15 rooms which are fairly large for European standards. Each one is uniquely decorated and named after a popular world city. We had the entire hotel to us as we were in a large group. We stayed in Paris, and it was the only room which had a balcony! Extremely spacious. The best part of the hotel is its internal heating, as St.Petersburg is cold even in summers. In April, day time temperatures were around 8 degrees. Even the bathroom floor is heated! Breakfast was fresh with attentive service. This place is highly recommended if you do not fancy living in the heart of downtown touristic area.
Nice boutique hotel, with intimate atmosphere and excellent service. Alexander house offers several, fairly large, uniquely decorated rooms and a nice inner yard, which is an excellent spot to enjoy the delicious breakfast buffet. However, if you are staying in the first floor, the breakfast tables can be located next to your window, so ask for the room in 2nd floor.
Location is close to many of the attractions, but quite far away from the nearest metro station. This reasonably priced hotel is great for couples or small groups and more than worth of the money you pay.
