How to Get There
Stayed for one night as part of our honeymoon, before we turned up we asked if they would wave the £15 enterance fee to use the spa due to it being our honeymoon but we were told it wasn't possible, instead they wowed us with a single balloon in our room. T
The room was a decent size although all was pretty standard.
We had cocktails on dirty worn seats looking out of a window that was filthy. The radiators paint was peeling and everywhere you looked you could see something needing attention, upkeep is not a strong point at the merchant.
The best quality of the merchant are its staff which were all lovely and very attentive. Breakfast was nice with decent and not over powering portions. Again seats were dirty handles missing off seats etc.
Would I stay again? Absolutely not, not impressed or worth the money.
Amazing from start to finish, from the warmth of the welcome at check in, full explanation of what was available at hotel and how to access, what to do if we needed anything and response we should expect. It did not fail to impress.
Room fabulous and the bathroom was overwhelming and beautiful. So clean and every little detail thought off. The bed was so comfortable and the interior decor and furniture of excellent quality
We had dinner in Berts, staff engaged, attentive and nothing was a problem.
Spa changing facilities clean and the jacuzzi on the roof at night was lovely.
Breakfast was waiter service and wonderful.
Truly special experience, a wonderful start to the new year. We will be back.
The hotel lived up to its reviews and website pictures! Our room was huge and stunning in decor and quality. Bed was very comfortable indeed. The staff were very attentive, discreet and hugely helpful. We dined in Bert’s Jazz bar on Friday night and we experienced excellent service, delicious food and the Jazz was Brilliant! Breakfast was outstanding, fresh local produce and as much as you needed. Highly recommend and we will be visiting again as Belfast is a wonderful city full of heritage and culture.
The Merchant Hotel has seen better days. It is an old hotel which needs some serious updating. While the dining room in the hotel is grand and massive, the furniture and carpets are in need of attention. We stayed in the Victorian part of the hotel. I wish we could have stayed in the Art Deco side as it is newer. Our suite was very large, very dark and in need of serious attention. The windows were dirty, the carpet needed cleaning and the furniture was old and uncomfortable. The bathroom was nice and had been updated. The saving grace of the hotel was the bar attached to it,Burts. Live music was available there each night. The staff working there were friendly and caring. We did not feel that the front desk staff were helpful except for a young lady who was engaged and offered some tips. The others on duty seemed bored with their jobs and did not go out of their way to make us feel welcome. It took a considerable amount of time to have our car brought from the garage. Allow plenty of time if you have a flight to catch. All in all, not a positive experience.
The Merchant hotel is an institution of glamour, sophistication and luxury in Belfast. We have used the hotel for several special occasions now and it is never a disappointment.
The staff are incredible friendly and professional. They have great attention to detail and aim to provide the customer with the best experience possible.
The suites are sumptuously designed and great care and attention is given to every detail.
The restaurants and bars serve not only the finest food and beverages in Ireland, but will also bring you something that you have perhaps never experienced before.
You feel as if you have been transported far, far away from your routine life once you step through the doors of this hotel. This is a world class hotel providing world class experiences.
We will always be back there.
