Follow in the famous footsteps of Captain James Cook and Bram Stoker’s Dracula with a weekend in Whitby and you’ll see why so many have flocked to this North Yorkshire port for more than 1,000 years. While a trip to Whitby’s Raithwaite Estate may be more country retreat than Gothic tale nowadays, you can still Count (pardon the pun) on heart-stopping Yorkshire scenery and excellent service.
Set in Raithwaite Estate’s own 100 acres, Raithwaite Estate is a truly picturesque spot. Pampering is high on the agenda with a heated pool, an indulgent treatment menu and even a dog spa. To take advantage of the North Yorkshire Moors, horse riding, mountain biking and guided walks are also available. Alternatively, you can simply enjoy the views or tuck into the best food the region has to offer in the award-winning restaurant.
How to Get There
Wanted to stay in Sandsend and this is a decent compromise as it is twixt Whitby and Sandsend.Very helpful staff, super breakfast with one of the best Kippers I have ever eaten and my partners Egg Benedict was scrumptious as well.Pleasant stay. I upgraded my room but not worth it as our Balcony was an outside pathway
we upgraded for a balcony which turned out to be a path outside the doors with a couple of seats. Ensure you are actually getting a balcony.Personally I didn't find the bed very comfortable. Too hard. Also the pillows were not at all comfortable and felt lumpy.
This experience was booked for our 20th wedding anniversary. We had an amazing experience. This is a truly unique place and is very special. I cannot fault anything, the staff are incredible and go the extra mile, nothing is too much trouble. The accommodation is beautiful, the beds are so comfortable and the food absolutely fantastic. recommended without any hesitation.
Booked as a spa break, this was a hugely successful stay. We loved the warmth of the staff team; their chirpy chatty interest in us and our visit to Whitby. Our room was lovely, clean, modern, well- equipped, under floor heat in the bathroom, skylights giving a view of sky and surrounding trees - very tranquil. Spa was perfect; we swam all 3 mornings. Very nice facility, very clean, with friendly staff. All the extras give the right level of luxury - robes, big towels, hairdriers, lotions - all scrumptious. We had one meal in the Brasserie, and it was spectacular - fabulous flavours, and a really intetesting menu. It's winter, so we didn't walk the grounds, but that is a treat we can save for next time.Staff have good knowledge of the local area, and are very forthcoming with ideas and suggestions.I felt very special, and welcomed. Would definitely go again, might even make this a Favourite.
Great location for hotel, have stayed in The Hall two times now in the executive room, deffo recommend this. Good selection for breakfast. Spa and pool is lovely and a nice atmosphere. Customer service is brilliant.
