Follow in the famous footsteps of Captain James Cook and Bram Stoker’s Dracula with a weekend in Whitby and you’ll see why so many have flocked to this North Yorkshire port for more than 1,000 years. While a trip to Whitby’s Raithwaite Estate may be more country retreat than Gothic tale nowadays, you can still Count (pardon the pun) on heart-stopping Yorkshire scenery and excellent service.
Set in Raithwaite Estate’s own 100 acres, Raithwaite Estate is a truly picturesque spot. Pampering is high on the agenda with a heated pool, an indulgent treatment menu and even a dog spa. To take advantage of the North Yorkshire Moors, horse riding, mountain biking and guided walks are also available. Alternatively, you can simply enjoy the views or tuck into the best food the region has to offer in the award-winning restaurant.
How to Get There
Just returned from a two night stay and cannot fault it! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff from buggy riding you from your car to opening doors. Room was lovely with a huge super comfy bed. Grounds were immaculate and with a superb spa and good food what is not to love!
Hard to find fault with this wonderful place.very pleasing on the eye, exellent food, great for walks and exploring.dog friendly in the true sense of the word.nothing is too much trouble for the team u will never find a more efficient or friendly lot.will be back soon!
Stayed here for 3 nights in June on a secret escapes deal, we had a room in the keep which was really handy as it was on the same level as reception. It was a large room with a balcony overlooking woodland. The bathroom had a huge shower and bath. From start to finish the service was impeccable and nothing was too much trouble for the hotel staff. The breakfast was good with both a hot Buffett or a menu to choose from. We had dinner on One night in the brasserie which was fine. The grounds of the hotel are stunning. There is a shuttle to take you to the main hotel and spa although it is only a short walk. The bay of Sandsend a short drive away is lovely with a couple of tea rooms and pubs. I would definitely stay here again.
Would definitely recommend Raithwaite Hall to stay in a lovely part of the country and near to the sea front. Which wasn't busy, although it was not during school holidays. We ate evening meal in the keep the staff wasn't really on the ball getting food wrong and delivering food to guest that had already eaten. I would also recommend pre-booking any spa treatment as it was all booked up, which was surprising considering how many people seemed to be staying.
my wife and I attended the Spa for the Spa Taster Day which included Afternoon tea as well as 2x 30min treatments each, the reception by the staff on arrival was brilliant, felt personal and interested in us being there. the facilities were excellent and the treatments were very good. the included afternoon tea was high end and delicious, all in the day felt
