Follow in the famous footsteps of Captain James Cook and Bram Stoker’s Dracula with a weekend in Whitby and you’ll see why so many have flocked to this North Yorkshire port for more than 1,000 years. While a trip to Whitby’s Raithwaite Estate may be more country retreat than Gothic tale nowadays, you can still Count (pardon the pun) on heart-stopping Yorkshire scenery and excellent service.
Set in Raithwaite Estate’s own 100 acres, Raithwaite Estate is a truly picturesque spot. Pampering is high on the agenda with a heated pool, an indulgent treatment menu and even a dog spa. To take advantage of the North Yorkshire Moors, horse riding, mountain biking and guided walks are also available. Alternatively, you can simply enjoy the views or tuck into the best food the region has to offer in the award-winning restaurant.
How to Get There
This hotel has amazing friendly and experienced staff to make your stay a perfect one stay in the main hall if you are using the spa you can use the lift to go riight to the pool. Executive rooms in the hall are spacious and comfortable with everything you need. The restaurants are both very good and the bar areas very different but very comfortable. Breakfast sets you up for the day and extremely tasty.
+ve's fantastic food, wonderful scenery and walks, very attentive staff.
Breakfast was a bit rushed.
General appearance and clenliness of paintwork was shabby. Even the main feature conservatory damaged paintwork from water leaks in need of repair and signs of damp around showers in room.
Also sauna out of order in the spa despite £350 a night.
This is a great hotel with good facilities, a selection of eating areas with excellent food. The spa area is good. The gardens are lovely and there his a woodland that you stroll around. The staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble, they are very friendly and interact with you. I would very much recommend this hotel.
The Raithwaite is an excellent place to stay with beautiful walks around the gardens and along the beach to either Whitby or Sandsend. We found the whole stay an enjoyable experience, with plenty to see and discover in the area. The Raithwaite complements this area of North Yorkshire which is a truly unspoilt part of the country.
We have previously been to the hotel. The room standards have always been good, however we have had some issues with the service.
This time the standards of service, in particular from reception were excellent. They went out of their way to accommodate us.
I would reccomend the hotel whole heartedly.
