How to Get There
I was for business in the city and needed a nice hotel for a night. The price was somehow high (350 Euros) but I don't mind if the place its worth it since I always look for boutique type hotel avoiding the chain ones. The room was very unfriendly. Small with ikea type decoration. No slippers, no bathrobe, the bath amenities are a joke, the TV was not working. You cannot have even a cup of coffee in the lobby before 4 oclock when the bar opens. I mean there should be a social kind of place to have a meeting over a cup of coffee or light lunch...... I was really really disappointed.
What more do you want? I arrived late and had a meal in the restaurant. Very nice German food with nice German wine. Friendly staff. The room was nice and had a coffeemachine and large TV. Nice view over the city. Good bed! Very nice stay. Breakfast was good and very divers. You could have all you may want. Good coffee thea and eggs...
I was pleased to chose this hotel this time.
The wife and I stayed here for two nights in two different rooms. The first room was dated and quite frankly had some issues with falling apart. It definitely needs to be updated. There was no air conditioner control in the room, and the front counter said they could have it turned down, but it never felt like the temp lowered during our stay. We moved to another room the next day, which was much nicer and newer in appearance and feel. The two days we stayed had sporadic to no WiFi access in the rooms, which was a little frustrating, considering we were using travel apps to plan our stay. The hotel has a great patio/bar/dining area on the top floor, which has 360 degree views of the city. Highly recommend visiting the bar even if you aren’t staying in the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and gave us some good information, as well as changing our rooms. The concept of the hotel is great, just make sure you are getting a quality room from the get go. We booked our original room on a travel site (not the hotel), so that may have accounted for the room selection. The hotel is within walking distance of the city center and river, as well as access to the U-Bahn right around the corner.
Lovely place with huge rooms in a fascinating structure. The bar and restaurant areas are atmospheric and moody but also kind of empty, it’s like walking through a dimly lit castle. The only negatives were the lack of WiFi and no vending machine (heart breaking after a night of drinking)
I paid for this hotel as a birthday treat for my partner. They offered us a free upgrade to a much worse room than I had booked. When I rejected the room they were standoffish. Then, they charged me twice despite me telling them I had already been charged! They offered no apology! Not even a sorry for taking an extra 150euros from my account. I am not well off and this was a treat and I was so let down. The room was nice but seemed to have been decorated in the 70s and I was disappointed it didn’t fit the rustic exterior. Overall an underwhelming experience. Also, I think a hotel of this price should have more than ‘red’ or ‘white’ on their wine list. Also, train your staff!
