How to Get There
I like the city, the hotel was just too overpriced, the building itself is striking when you enter the hotel. Very wow.but that is it. Its modern and cool but not worth the €€€€€. Cologne is great city!
Knowing how hot Germany had been in recent weeks I booked this place on the basis of convenience for a business colleague to pick me up next day and air conditioning. The aircon basically did not work. I complained to the front desk and the only comment I got was that they would go up to the room with me to check. On further asking what would then happen I was told there is actually nothing they could do as the settings are controlled ‘somewhere in Germany’ total waste of time and money. One of the worst Radisson hotels since the last one I stayed in. Abysmal brand overpriced any ‘couldn’t give a Tom tit’ service
Stayed here before during events at the Köln Messe and was always satisfied. Nice breakfast, large rooms, good bed and near to the Messe. But after the renovation my opinion has changed having stayed here for two nights in June. The renovations seem to be just some new decoration in the rooms and public spaces. Still an old-fashioned bath instead of a walk-in shower. And service has gone downhill. Boy, oh boy. Tourist city tax was slapped on my bill - at reception they should have offered to fill in the special form for business stays which are not subject to the city tax. After complaining, they took it off - but that should not have been necessary as I was clearly on a business trip. In the room - no bottles of water (had to ask for them - they arrived the second day) and cleaning of the room was not very well done. Not good for a hotel at this price point.
Very good hotel, excellent staff and service was first class. Room was very comfortable and all amenities worked well, room service was on time and accurate, lounge bar was comfortable and again service was excellent.
airco in my room did not work for the entire 3 days stay. They kept sending someone to check but the person didn't even know how to check it. I had to sleep in hot room as the windows was opening on the courtyard (sold as garden view) where outside bar was located so as you can imagine noise was constant. At the end I asked for a room change on same floor as it was at 10pm and was proposed to move 2 floors up, being in pyjama already and last night I didn't bother.
Mini bar was empty and there was not even complimentary water. When I asked why mini bar is empty I was given an answer "because of renovation and if I want something I can call room service at a surcharge" Obviously there was no renovation and even if what a mini fridge has to do with renovation!!??
Chromecast is installed in every room (yeeeeah) but again it didn't work, first day reception said they don't know why its not working, second day they send a guy who didn't know either.
Room service. I ordered Argentinian steak (sous vide) with baked potato which was basically cheapest meat that was inedible (chewy, dry and tasteless) with raw potato. I thought it was a one off problem so I asked for new dish but in the second one only potato was ok.
Overall worst experience in a while. I might have been unlucky but I will not come back there for sure.
