How to Get There
The place is clean, has some places to eat, close to a mall, many amenities. Staff courteous. NO USB ports in room. Rooms cramped with too much furniture jammed inside. WiFi problematic. The bathroom has no tub. Only a raindrop shower head—no sprayer.
Understand this is ecological but when hair needs to be rinsed and it is long you end up spending extra time and h20 anyway—-not a fan. Day 2 our room was only half cleaned.
Felt like walking into the set of a horror movie. MASSIVE hotel but totally empty. Only one restaurant open, which makes sense because it was empty, but walking past the other restaurant and what appeared to be former shops - completely dark and unused - was just creepy. Concierge lounge offerings were beyond horrible and very limited (though evening lounge attendant was incredibly professional and delightful). I tried to stick with a banana and yogurt for breakfast but got stopped at the door and told that the food was allowed to be taken out of the lounge - which might make sense if someone was taking handfuls, but I literally had one yogurt and one banana. And again, the lounge was empty making the rule even stranger. Front desk staff rude about providing our loyalty program upgrade, which is never guaranteed but again, the hotel was empty and with 1000 rooms, I was surprised by the difficulty. The room was actually nice, but there was hair in the shower and in the toilet room, the room smelled stale, and it was clear that the AC hadn't been on - which makes sense given the largely unoccupied status of most of the rooms. We cranked the AC and left to find dinner and returned to the same stuffy room, called maintenance and went through 3 rounds of "that's the best we can do" about the temperature. When I assured him that this is the kind of thing that people want to know when they read reviews and that I would certainly share my experience, I managed to get his attention and he came to replace a battery in the motion sensor (which allows the unit to only run when the room is occupied) and the problem was solved. This property is so close to the Coliseum and the Greensboro Aquatic Center and has the potential to do so much business! We were so determined to make it work and hoped to share our experience with other swim families in hopes of having this site become the team hotel for our large group, I'm so disappointed that this property cares so little about doing business. We are largely Marriott users, this was our first venture into a Sheraton since the Starwood merger, sad to see such a difference in standard.
We love this hotel. We stay once or twice every year. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly and there is plenty of parking. Easy on off to the highway. To top it off the fitness center is really good.
Overall, an extremely nice hotel; very large. Beautiful pool area. Rooms were "compact." Closet space was minimal. Beautiful shower water came from ceiling. Nice to look at but I felt it was impractical. Had to twist, turn and bend to get water where it was needed. Lucus, at the front desk, seems tentative, but he knew what he was doing. All the hotel activities were excellent and I would highly recommend this hotel for large (over 100) meetings.
The hotel is in a great location for visiting the town of Greensboro. Great amenities and service.
However, the true enjoyment is the meetings held by groups there.
It varies from Vets to Holy Rollers!
