Lovely Hotel but ONE Basic Element Missing!

The Dunhill is great - warm, friendly staff and the most beautiful understated decor in the hallways and rooms. But here is the one glaring omission: For being a hotel with an old-world British motif, one cannot get a proper cup of tea!! Tea can be had in the lobby but in a lousy Styrofoam cup. Come on, people, where are the china cups? I'm coming in January, 2019 and intend to bring my own cup and saucer to enjoy afternoon tea in the lobby in a British civil manner. I'll mark you 5 stars if you correct this. Thanks.

Screwed up reservation no help to fix it.

Confirmed reservation for 2 rooms, each with 2 queen beds. One room had one double and a pull out sofa. sofa bed had no sheets it took four phone calls to the front desk to get someone to bring a blanket for the sofa bed and been trying for 2 days to get a refund for that room still waiting. Extremely uncaring and ungrateful staff during our stay

My son just got married in Charlotte this is where the out of town guest stayed. Most have stayed at hotels throughout the US and some over seas, several said this is the friendliest staff they have ever come across, I must agree. All bent over backwards to accommodate us. A big thank you to Joel, Logan and all the others! The wedding weekend was great and the Dunhill will be in our memories forever. Historic hotel with an ambience to it.

Wonderful and convenient stay

This was a quick one-night trip to Charlotte to attend a performance of Hamilton at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, which is conveniently located just one block away. We prefer historic hotels, and the Dunhill is a favorite when visiting Charlotte. Parking is convenient with both self and valet parking options available. The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming, as was the bell-staff. The rooms are a bit smaller than in newer hotels, but not cramped and very well equipped. The included buffet breakfast is a real treat, offering not only a great start to your day but the opportunity to meet other guests as if you were in a B&B. I did valet parking and after getting to the room discovered I had left my phone charging cord in the car. I informed the front desk and within a few minutes the cord was retrieved and delivered to my room. As soon as I was handed the cord the bell person began to leave with no expectation of a tip which I found a pleasant change. Of course, a tip was given but it was the fact it was not expected which made the giving of the tip far more pleasurable. Thanks to all the staff at the Dunhill for a most pleasant stay. We will be back.

Bad staff can ruin a trip

This was our second stay at The Dunhill Hotel - Our first experience was an overnight stay a few years ago. After the second experience, I'll probably never stay again. We were in the area to attend a late night event. We checked in quickly around 6:00, the room was as expected, kind of a vintage of feel, but I like different, but for the price I was surprised to find a large stain on the floor. Later that night, it was nice to come back and stay in a quite hotel and get a good nights rest. We were looking forward to breakfast until the person attending the room walked in. We and about 6 other guests were in small room where a breakfast buffet was served. The attendee was noticeably loud and distracting as he opened and slammed drawers and replaced the covers to the chaffing dishes. I and others could not help but look his way. He dropped fruit and eggs and stirred the oatmeal with what seemed anger and frustration. Just as it started to be uncomfortable, our daughter joined us, he said, "if you are going to eat, you've got 3 minutes" - and then returned to the slamming and shutting of drawers and covers. My daughter stood up and he had the audacity to ask her where she was going? - When the matter was discussed with other staff who said they were management - we got the typical "I'm sorry" - I'm sorry, but we will not stay there again. Additionally - After parking in the parking lot - 30 minutes we paid $6 to depart and the next day a $25 parking fee was added to our bill and we paid an additional $25 to exit the parking garage. And the elevators were not working.
