How to Get There
Historic inn just outside Blowing Rock. Located just across the highway from the entrance to the visitors’ center to the rock and close to town shopping and restaurants. Stayed in the original section. Quiet, clean and just right for a couple for the weekend. Don’t expect a Four Seasons. Small bath. Window AC and creaking floors. Great breakfast and tavern. Enjoyed live music and wine on the porch. Will come again.
I took a few days out from a Tennessee trip to visit Blowing Rock and stay at the Green Park Inn. Both the area and the hotel were lovely, the town is one of the nicest I’ve visited in NC as it’s both busy and charming. The scenery is of course stunning and a visit to Grandfather Mountain is a must.
Green Park Inn certainly retains an old world charm, the bar and restaurant are both good but what sets it aside are the staff who couldn’t be nicer or more helpful.
I would certainly visit again.
We stayed at the Inn for one night and were surprised to see the condition and cleanliness of the inn was not up to published standards. The entrance was not clean and looked like it needed sweeping. Bathroom had cracks in the floors and dirt/soap build up in the corners. Carpets in the facility needed cleaning and the exterior walls in the back had mildew buildup. We had scrambled eggs for breakfast which had brown burn areas on them and the bread was dry around the corners, and no salt/pepper shakers on the table. Also, no choice of what to have other than what they had pre-defined for you among several alternatives. We also didn't know they accepted dogs which we saw walking in the interior with their owners.
Sadly, unless there is a major change we'll not stay there in the future. The good thing was the service, especially the lady named Laura (Lauren?) who helped us with our reservations.
