We were tired from a day of traveling and were welcomed in to find a clean, cool room. I loved it, my husband loved it and we only wish we could have stayed longer. We can't wait to go back for another visit.

Nice historic grand hotel with Restaurant
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This is the second oldest hotel in Western NC, that has had renovations, and still some in the works. It's got the old style flavor to it, but nicely done. Some of the rooms have a balcony with rocking chairs overlooking the golf course, and it's quite pleasant sitting there in the mornings enjoying the cooler temperatures of the mountains. The room was very nice with a Keurig coffee maker, no microwave or refridge, but that was OK. The history of the hotel and the surrounding area are most interesting, and there is a small room with some history and historical items for viewing. The hotel restaurant is nice and the meals are good and reasonably priced. Breakfast is included with the room rate, which is a bit higher than some other moderate rates, but not bad for a special occasion and they have several discount options such as AAA, etc. Weather permitting you can eat outside on the patio, which was very pleasant. There are many things to do and see in the Blowing Rock and Boone areas and many places to eat. Highly recommended.
