How to Get There
The Location in Blowing rock is central to so many attractions. The resort itself offers high quality amenities and we have enjoyed so many. They recently added Clay target shooting which the whole Family really enjoyed! The Instructor was fantastic and patient. That facility alone was worth the visit!
This was our first visit to this part of the North Carolina Mountains. Our son was visiting from California so we decided to stay in a condo at the Chetola Resort and had a very good experience. The Condo, FINCH 1, was well outfitted and perfect for our stay. The grounds of the resort are beautiful and you can utilize all of their facilities. Having the condo was great as we could have our breakfast in the unit before heading out for a day of exploring. The one dinner we had at the resort was fair. Both the food and service could have been better but it was acceptable. The town of Blowing Rock offers interesting shops and the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. We of course went to see Blowing Rock and also Grandfather Mountain which is worth the trip if in the area. We had an excellent dinner at Twigs one evening and also dined at Bistro Roca's. We look forward to a return trip to Chetola and will no doubt do the condo accommodation again. It is a very nice resort.
This is a difficult review to write. The resort is very nice, and nicely situated. Staff was great, as was the restaurant. The problem was with one of their premier rooms, which we used for three nights. The AC was struggling and not accomplishing much, so we never got a good night’s sleep. The only place to sit was an old day bed that was uncomfortable and so low we had to help each other get back up. The toilet ran and refilled with an obnoxious whine. There was no charging device for phones or tablets. The lighting was poor and not good enough to read in bed. The resort called after seeing this list and apologized, said they were updating those rooms and offered us a two night stay. We appreciated that, but after $1,000 for three nights, we had had enough. Also, we made reservations there via the resort’s web site, but later we found a charge of about $150 for that service, as provided by Expedia. That’s not right.
