How to Get There
Attended a wedding in Blowing Rock and some of the events were at Chetola. Great place for gathering family and friends. Beautiful setting. Excellent food at Timberlake's and the events had great food, too! Wonderful service - everyone was so helpful. Really enjoyed the spa. Blowing Rock is fun, eclectic and sure to please. Boone is a happy place, too.
Chetola Resort offers something for everyone from a single traveler to families with children of varying ages. The Lodge rooms are spacious and comfortable; the list of possible activities is extensive; the grounds are gorgeous and beautifully-maintained; staff is friendly and efficient; and rates are reasonable.
On a recent getaway, we stayed in one of the Lodge rooms overlooking the lake. Though not as lavishly decorated as the Timberlake section, it is still very comfortable. Many hotels have bathrooms that are cramped and unsafe but Lodge ones are spacious with excellent safety features in the tub/shower. The addition of a night light, as well as extra hooks or towel bars, would be nice, but even without the bathroom is unusually large.
Included in a room rate is a lavish breakfast buffet which makes a stay very reasonably priced.
The High Country is one of the most beautiful areas in WNC, and anyone who selects Chetola Resort as a home base for exploring its many treasures will be glad they did.
I'm not that big of a fan of the NC mountains, but this place is pretty nice/cool. Neat area, great grounds, restaurant is really good, and the pond in front for fishing with kids is super easy. Prices here are very reasonable and as are all the amenities. Not sure what other kind of rooms they have, but we stayed in a 2 queen hotel room and it was big enough for 2 adults and 2 kids...and then some. I would say the rooms are larger than a typical hotel room. Beds were reasonably comfortable and the bathrooms were good. Best things about this hotel was definitely the restaurant...it was great. Also, ate at nearby Foggy Rock restaurant - was also excellent. The town is OK...definitely use this as a jumping off point/homebase to tackle the Blue Ridge or do day trips to other nearby towns. Overall, very cool.
