How to Get There
My wife and I were first greeted by a valet who informed me the cost of parking is the same regardless of whether I chose valet or self-park, and neither is included in my stay. This was rather unsettling since I'm an IHG Spire Elite and my parking has always been waived at all other IHG locations. Next, at checkin there was a pretty long line/queue and only one person checking everyone in. There was no "red carpet" priority check in. Once we got to the counter, there was no recognition of my status nor choice of complementary drink or bonus points as is customary at the other 100+ IHG hotels where I've stayed around the world. Next, I asked whether we needed vouchers for our complementary breakfast and the young woman retorted, "Breakfast is not included. The restaurant is independently owned." Once I got to the room, I confirmed with the IHG site that the room did include two complementary breakfasts. Armed with evidence, I went back down to the checkin counter. Fortunately, there was a different person there who confirmed the complementary breakfasts and handed us our vouchers. The bed is comfy and the room is well decorated, but overall it just isn't worth the expense. I'd rather be at the Crowne Plaza.
The Hotel Indigo has a boutique feel while in the IHG (Holiday Inn) chain of hotels. The people are friendly, the rooms nice / clean / comfortable. Did not eat in the hotel as it did not have much of a dining scene. And with downtown Asheville so close, not need to eat in the hotel.
Nice brunch at Rhubard (downtown), great dinner at Ruth's Chris (near Biltmore) and exceptional buffet breakfast at Blue Ridge Artisanal Buffet in Grove Park Inn.
Overall this is a good hotel if wanting to be close to downtown.
We stayed here for two nights to attend an area wedding. We picked this hotel because it was pet friendly. I have to say this is probably the nicest and most friendly hotels I have ever stayed in and believe me I have stayed in many. Just remember it is pet friendly so there are a lot of pets roaming. Would highly recommend. I loved the accommodations and service for us as well. The desk clerks and valets were wonderful and we come to Asheville often and this is a great location.
Indigo is in a good location, right off the highway but within walking distance of downtown. The lobby bar and the fitness center we're nice enough and the staff was professional. My room was on the side facing town so it was quiet and comfortable with a great view. I can definitely recommend this property.
