How to Get There
Great beachfront hotel that we really enjoyed for four nights (dont recommend going for any less because it takes a little bit of time to get there). The grounds are beautiful in all their splendor, we felt very enveloped by the nature. Just a few minutes walking or golf cart to the main part of town where the restaurants and tiny shops are for souvenirs, etc. Beautiful bedroom and beautiful hotel.
This Island is the most relaxing place we've ever had the good fortune to visit.
The hotel is set in grounds full of trees, it's kept immaculate, staff very helpful and friendly, the location is great right on the beach virtually.
We found the quiet fantastic, sitting on the beach became hypnotic and we loved the slightly wild side of the Island, with interesting birds, fish and small lizards.
It was really hot for us, so the air conditioning was badly needed, it kept the room cool and was my haven when I overheated. Food was beautiful as well as tasty, they go to a lot of trouble to make things special and it was.
Holbox was a totally different kind of holiday for us and we savoured every minute. We could not have wished for more,
The best of this place was the quietness. The front desk staff was incredible. We had a delay in our flight and we’ve arrived after the last ferry at 9:30pm. After I called to the hotel ask for help to reach the hotel the same night of our arrival, they contacted a guy to be available to give us a ride on his boat. They were amazing! The beach is very good with warm water.
The bad stuff was the poor variety in the meals. Another thing that hasn’t so great but it’s not the hotel fault, but probably has a solution, it’s the sand is so fine that the room was been always dirty with it.
We feel really lucky to have visited Holbox, and really loved our hotel. Fantastic beach, and the pool is a great alternative, but we didnt use it. Best for couples in my opinion, since its so romantic. You can catch the sunset every night from the restaurant, the food is pretty great, the included breakfast was good, but the dinner was really really good. We walked the whole beach strip and saw the other hotels, this is definitely the best without a single doubt.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 night before going on to River Maya
Our villa was very nice, although the aircon kept breaking, they kindly moved us to another room but this again broke.
The hotel is set in lots of jungle and so there are many mosquitos, this in fact really spoill our stay there as we were bitten mercilessly,we had taken 50% deet and bought more at a local store, also a room spray, nothing did any good to repel them; my husband had over 50 bites on him and I much the same , we were glad when it was time to leave.
Hotel food and staff were goof and iguanas lay around the pool area, with the odd racoon passing by.
The hotel was quite, too quite for us, those we did speak with also had real issues with the mosquitos, we were told the locals call Holbox mosquito island!!
We did venture I to the quaint town, it's very laid back and has a hippy feel to it, has some great beach bars too, the mosquitos did seem to be less in numbers in the town, probably because there was no jungle.
Wish I'd have known about this problem before we booked 😊
