Friendliest staff!

The pool attendants are so courteous and helpful! Esbai goes out of his way to make sure you have fresh towels, umbrella if needed and you are comfortable. Love this place! Everytime you walk in the lobby you feel like your in a spa with the wonderful smell of eucalyptus and lavendar.

Considering for Spring Break? Don’t do it.
Reviewed 2 days ago

I intended to write this upon returning last year from Spring Break but wanted to forget the entire experience. As we approach Spring Break again, I thought it was important you read this review before making your Spring break decision.

Last year was our third trip to VLE in the last four years and after this most recent experience, it will be our last. Having been here twice before over Spring Break, we certainly were prepared for a busy week. However, we weren’t prepared for all of the chairs around the pool to be claimed before 6:00am. The rules clearly state that guests are not permitted to save chairs by putting items on them. However, this rule was not enforced and every morning, we set our alarm to get up at 5:30am in order to have access to an umbrella and chairs for the day. On days when we didn’t do this (morning excursions), we were forced to bake in the sun on plastic chairs without an umbrella. This is not my idea of a relaxing week.

It didn’t help that the lower end resort next door overbooked and upgraded many guests to the VLE. It was easy to spot these guests: kids spitting from the top floor, swarms of loud young adults overly intoxicated at all hours of the day, unchaperoned toddlers in the hot tubs pouring drinks from the bar into them. Who are these parents that leave their kids unattended? And where is the pool attendant to stop this behavior? It was complete chaos. We had never experienced any of this in past visits.
If you wanted a drink, you better order two because it took nearly 30 minutes on some days to get a watered down drink. And for lunch, well you better order when you stake out your seat at 5:30am because it took over an hour on multiple occasions to receive food. Again, this is not my idea of a relaxing week and is a drastic change from prior visits.

Did I mention the ocean? There are stingrays all along this beach and we heard horror stories of multiple people getting stung. The red flag indicating swimmers beware caused virtually all guests to not swim in the ocean. Again, not my idea of a relaxing ocean side spring break. Chairs along the beach were divided between owners and guests. Guests were given uncomfortable plastic chairs while more comfortable owner chairs went unused.

If you must try this resort, do not do the all-inclusive. While the lunches were decent once they finally arrived, the breakfast buffet was bland with the same options every morning. No jalepenos for the omelettes? Seriously? You are better off going to the local grocery store and cooking breakfast yourself. Dinners were inconsistent. One night, the duck was exceptional while a second night, it was completely inedible. The same for the steaks while the vegetable sides were items even the waiter didn’t know what they were. To top it off, upon checkout, there was a misunderstanding regarding tipping. The all-inclusive package is supposed to include food and beverage as well as tips but the resort makes you sign a bill after every meal. If you write a tip on the bill, that is not included in the all-inclusive. Wait a minute, I thought tips were included. Apparently not. Be very careful here. This is a change from past visits. We racked up over $200 in unintended tips (we were paying cash tips as well) and the management team was completely unsympathetic at checkout. They claimed they would discuss the issue and contact us when we returned to resolve the issue. I am still awaiting that call almost a year later. Meanwhile, they charged my credit card the entire amount. Great customer service.

There are many other options in PVR. Those that give this resort 5 stars are kidding themselves. Do yourself a favor and don’t pick VLE. We will not return.

7th visit

This resort is the best in the area. The service on this visit was outstanding-twice a day maid service and beach attendants. The help of Omar, the bell man and the front desk help of Isela were appreciated.
We like being close to Bucerías for dinner. We will return next year.
