How to Get There
This was an amazing, off the beaten path stop. Javier and the entire staff are amazing and always there with a helpful suggestion or smile. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We often had the entire beach in front of the hotel to ourselves and they even set us up with two chairs, an umbrella and cooler of beer when we wanted to hang out there rather than the pool.
Yes, the road to this hotel is dirt and rough, but I felt it was part of the adventure. I read reviews prior to arrival so I knew what to expect. I suggest renting an SUV.
While there aren't other nearby hotels, restaurants or bars, I really didn't feel the need to go elsewhere for anything. The restaurant/bar onsite more than met our needs.
If you are looking for a scene with 200+ rooms and every amenity under the sun, this may not be for you. However, if you're looking for a quiet/relaxing spot to see a less known area of Mexico where you can eat amazing food, drink delicious cocktails, interact with amazing/friendly staff, and soak in the beauty of the beach...well...this is your place.
The perfect place if you don’t want to deal with the crowds and tourist traps of Cabo. The rooms were nice, the food was great, and the staff was beyond accommodating. The value was perfect. One thing to keep in mind - this is off the beaten path. The only way to get there is a dirt road that might be a little bit more rugged than some folks are use to (about an hour and 15 minutes from the airport). I got a rental car, but the hotel will shuttle you. I felt like this place gives you the real Baja experience.
Very clean hotel with exceptional staff. The rooms were comfortable and the property was not crowded. Prices were reasonable for the area. One of our new favorite destinations. We even left Pueblo Bonito at Sunset Beach to go back for an afternoon to get away from the hustle and bustle of a big resort.
We only came for lunch, so can't speak to the rooms but...
Maybe it's the construction zone feeling parking lot (generator, misc equipment, pipes...), maybe its the powerful smell of open sewers that wafted continuously through the restaurant, maybe the general feeling of disrepair, maybe it's was the totally stoned 20 something surfer couple, maybe the obnoxious blaring TV, or maybe it was the highly overpriced food consisting of aging fish in the fish tacos which caused mild food poisoning, or the slightly rotting smelling meat in the carne-asada tacos which I just couldn't get past, but honestly this place was borderline terrifying to me and my lady.
The waiters tried at first, but even they seemed to know it was not a good day to be there and did not act surprised when we left with more than half our meal uneaten.
I read the other reviews and have a hard time aligning our experience to the 5 star reviews people have posted. Maybe we were there on the worst possible of days. Maybe you have to be a surfer to love it. I don't know. All I can tell you folks is we left quickly, and were relieved once we had.
Regarding pricing: 1 order of guacamole & chips (this was good), 2 orders of tacos, 1 lemon soda and 1 pina-colada = $75, which was more than listed on the menu, but that's what they asked for and by then I didn't want to argue, we really just wanted to leave.
We stayed for a week at Vidasoul and absolutely loved it! This is one of the few hotels where upgrading to a suite is absolutely worth it. The gorgeous views of the ocean from the suite are just like the pictures! It is about an hour drive from the airport and renting a 4x4 would be recommended, as the roads are very rough. But if you can make it out to Vidasoul, it makes a nice base to explore Cabo Pulmo and the many other unspoiled natural treasures in the area
The nearly private beach, the very nice staff, and the restaurant make this place an amazing oasis. Thank you Javier and the entire staff for a great stay!
