Overview

Calgary’s chicest sleep satisfies culture vultures and business travelers alike

The Lowdown

This newly built hotel’s 143 guestrooms and suites are the city’s best, packing plenty of style into a residential package with warm wood accents, plenty of natural light and spa-like marble bathrooms with peekaboo glass showers. It’s easy to be green here, so much so that guests won’t even know they’re using low-flow toilets, energy-efficient lights and geothermic-heated radiant floors. The sybaritic Santé Spa and a state-of-the-art fitness center are perched atop the hotel for panoramic views, while on the ground level Charcut Roast House pays homage to the town’s cowboy roots grilling up steaks and game in a custom rotisserie and charbroiler.

In the Area

This stretch of the Canadian Rockies outside of Calgary is known for superior powder, and three top-notch resorts are located within Banff National Park: Mt. Norquay, Lake Louise Ski Area and Sunshine Village. Between the three resorts there’s more than 8,000 acres of skiable terrain and mountain peaks that are so epic the United Nations has declared the area a World Heritage site. Best of all, this northern latitude rocks one of the longest ski seasons in North America, from mid-November until late May. If you’re sticking around town, check out the 360-degree views from the top of the 626-foot Calgary Tower. While you’re up there, have a bite at the tower-top restaurant SKY 360 — it does a full rotation every hour.

Holiday Party
Reviewed 4 days ago

We hosted our holiday party at Le Germain. I must share that the food was amazing! The service was top shelve and the venue was decorated just enough.

Our party of 70 people was handled with experience, class, and hospitality. Also, we had some individuals stay at the hotel which also received 5 stars.

I would book here again soon.

Great accommodations and service

Extremely clean and well designed rooms. Very pleasant and comfortable. Great downtown location. World class restaurant on site. Would highly recommend. Spent a week there with my wife for a quick getaway.

Great Hotel

Corner Prestige room was outstanding. Modern low king bed. Long washroom with tub, walk in shower, separate toilet room, double vanity. Felt like a king! Close to everything. Great spa. Delicious breakfast from Charcut included. Would stay again. Staff however weren't so friendly nor knowledgeable and didnt match the high end hotel.

Impressive hotel with impressive concierge...

So the hotel met all the expectations of a boutique residence and even with its quirky features and somewhat dark suites it still delivered a great two-night stay. Staff were very friendly.

But what won the day and a 5 star rating was Ben (concierge) that sprinted two blocks to ensure our wayward Uber driver did not give up and leave. Without any hesitation Ben took my phone and discerned quickly that the Uber was a couple blocks away and likely got thrown off by the address versus hotel name.

Ben not only did this without hesitation but he did so without looking for anything but a big wave from a block away. He said he did not want us to be late for our fundraiser and that was most important. I called the hotel from the Uber to thank him but he was not available - he probably put on his Superman cape to help another guest.

Well done Ben!!

Good hotel in the center of Calgary but beware of payment issues.

The room was excellent, modern and spacious. Nice decor with all you may need. Breakfast was good although it could be improved with better quality and more range.
Unfortunately, they charged us the stay and also blocked the complete amount on our credit card for more than 1 month! We had a double expense for many days with the card limit being compromised because of this. When addressing the issue they were not very helpful, not accepting any responsibility and only saying the problem must be our bank. All other hotels in our 15-day trip through West-Canada unblocked the amounts right after we paid the stay.
