A romantic stay at an award-winning hotel near the sea in Norfolk, including a cream tea

The Lowdown

Beechwood Hotel sits pretty near the coast, within easy reach of Norfolk’s rolling sandy beaches, Norwich’s majestic architecture and some of the UK’s most charming seaside towns. It’s perhaps little wonder this charming hotel mentions Agatha Christie as one of the home’s regular guests in years gone by – it’s exactly the kind of place that could easily feature in one of her novels. From its elegant Georgian design and traditionally styled décor to the exemplary service typical of an exquisite boutique, this place oozes elegance.
It’s not all about the old-school hospitality, four-poster beds and traditional setting at this country-house hotel, though. The hotel happens to boast one of the region’s finest restaurants, showcasing superb local produce. It’s also known as being a dreamy hideaway for lovebirds. In addition to its Certificate of Excellence on the site, the hotel also boasts a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award for being one of the UK’s Top 25 Hotels for Romance.

We arrived and were met in the car park by a lovely lady who whisked our bags away. Shown to our room which was lovely (a good night sleep every night) and then down to a lovely garden for an afternoon tea with prosecco. Dinner was a delight every night - the meal that just kept on extending! Olives/nuts, canapes, amuse bouche, starter, main, pud and then chocolates. All were delicious and the service from everyone (without exception) was superb. My dietary requirements were fully taken into consideration. I cannot speak highly enough of this lovely hotel and we will go back time and time again. Thank you all very much.

We recently spent one night at this lovely hotel, famed for its association with Agatha Christie. We were visiting to celebrate our wedding anniversary and could not have chosen better. Our four-poster bedroom and large bathroom were spotless and finished to a very high standard as indeed is the entire hotel. The dining experience was first class and the whole stay was enhanced by the efficiency and friendliness of the owner and staff. We hope to be back.

Stayed three nights at this charming hotel. The staff are extremely friendly, but not intrusive, and help in anyway they can. The bedroom was comfortable, clean and well furnished. Large bathroom with shower and bath. Lovely view of the gardens which are well maintained and a lovely place to sit and relax.
The breakfast had a good choice and were well cooked. Served by very pleasant staff.
The hotel is well furnished in an Art Deco manner, very appealing. Will definitely return.
