What We Love
- An acclaimed small hotel near the coast, with breakfast, four-course dinner and moreThe traditional charm of this elegant, country-house hotel
- Dining at the acclaimed restaurant, which showcases the region’s superb local produce
- The proximity to the stunning Norfolk coastline and all its pretty towns and villages
Beechwood Hotel sits pretty near the coast, within easy reach of Norfolk’s rolling sandy beaches, Norwich’s majestic architecture and some of the UK’s most charming seaside towns. It’s perhaps little wonder this charming hotel mentions Agatha Christie as one of the home’s regular guests in years gone by – it’s exactly the kind of place that could easily feature in one of her novels. From its elegant Georgian design and traditionally styled décor to the exemplary service typical of an exquisite boutique, this place oozes elegance.
It’s not all about the old-school hospitality, four-poster beds and traditional setting at this country-house hotel, though. The hotel happens to boast one of the region’s finest restaurants, showcasing superb local produce. It’s also known as being a dreamy hideaway for lovebirds. In addition to its Certificate of Excellence on the site, the hotel also boasts a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award for being one of the UK’s Top 25 Hotels for Romance.
How to Get There
We stayed here for three nights and found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The food was superb and the bedrooms extremely comfortable. We were so impressed that, as soon as you park, someone comes out of the hotel to bring in your luggage.
We had a cause to celebrate and stumbled across a deal to stay here. Breaking the offer down, it included cream tea and prosecco, dinner for two and b&b, the bed bit was virtually gratis, so we took advantage of the upgrade to four poster and held our breath. We've been to many hotels that claimed to be 4 or 5 star and we rather thought they exaggerated, this is the first we think is being modest at 3 star. What we look for in hotels:- friendly and welcoming staff, spacious, clean rooms, good food and atmosphere. This hotel excels in all these qualities, from a tour from the receptionist to show the layout of the hotel (we've never had that!) to a quality of food that denotes a chef of the very first order. I'll be honest and say that North Walsham is not the prettiest of Norfolk places but it's a great base for Blickling, Felbrigg and West Ruston Gardens all well worth your visit, Hotels offer these deals not just to increase occupancy but to increase exposure because satisfied visitors tell others and post on social media like this. We have have no reservations in saying that this is an excellent hotel, working extremely hard to look after you and we look forward to visiting again.
Having spent the last 18 years of my working life staying in hotels with average customer service levels and ok food this is a real gem. Quite simply outstanding service and outstanding food. Thank you to the entire team here. First we were greeted by the owner of the hotel at our car, to take our bags. We were then shown around the hotel by Rachel, who could not have been more friendly and accommodating. The day was finished with a fantastic dinner, with some extra surprises between courses . We would definitely return to this hotel. I cannot recommend this enough.
Lovely hotel. Warm welcome when we pulled into the car park from the owner, Hugh. The hotel is tastefully decorated. Friendliness and level of service from staff was exemplary. Great food. You must try the NOrfolk Gin!
Our first visit but will return.
A lovely happy hotel, a great staff team who are clearly enjoying their job.
Room was comfortable and clean, good clean shower and toilet, small but no complaints.
