A romantic stay at an award-winning hotel near the sea in Norfolk, including a cream tea

The Lowdown

Beechwood Hotel sits pretty near the coast, within easy reach of Norfolk’s rolling sandy beaches, Norwich’s majestic architecture and some of the UK’s most charming seaside towns. It’s perhaps little wonder this charming hotel mentions Agatha Christie as one of the home’s regular guests in years gone by – it’s exactly the kind of place that could easily feature in one of her novels. From its elegant Georgian design and traditionally styled décor to the exemplary service typical of an exquisite boutique, this place oozes elegance.
It’s not all about the old-school hospitality, four-poster beds and traditional setting at this country-house hotel, though. The hotel happens to boast one of the region’s finest restaurants, showcasing superb local produce. It’s also known as being a dreamy hideaway for lovebirds. In addition to its Certificate of Excellence on the site, the hotel also boasts a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award for being one of the UK’s Top 25 Hotels for Romance.

Fabulous hotel

Truly excellent, efficient and friendly service from every single member of staff - nothing was too much trouble. The room and bathroom were delightful, overlooking the beautiful garden and everything was spotless. We didn't get the chance to eat there in the evening but were told by other guests that the food was superb. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be returning.

Truly Wonderful

Cant praise the staff, the room, the food and the garden enough. All was really great. Incredibly lovely room considering we had our dogs with us as dog friendly rooms are often dated and in need of a serious update. The only negative comment is that electric fans shouldve been placed in the room as the weather was so hot and also the dining room in the eve was uncomfortable to eat in due to the heat and lack of air circulating. Apparently the owner is considering fitting ceiling fans in the dining room.
We will return as this is a wonderful find.

Very nice tasty meal

We went to Beechwood for our anniversary meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive and we were not rushed. Meal was booked for 7.30 we were served canopies with our drinks in the bar and our dinner order was taken. We were then taken through to the restaurant at 8.15. We were given a pre-starter and then our main meal's husband had Hallibut and I had pork loin which was well presented and very tasty. Desert was also very nice. We had a lovely quiet evening at the Beechwood Hotel. Two things to note parking is very limited we had to park on a nearby street and also the drinks are quite expensive
