A romantic stay at an award-winning hotel near the sea in Norfolk, including a cream tea

The Lowdown

Beechwood Hotel sits pretty near the coast, within easy reach of Norfolk’s rolling sandy beaches, Norwich’s majestic architecture and some of the UK’s most charming seaside towns. It’s perhaps little wonder this charming hotel mentions Agatha Christie as one of the home’s regular guests in years gone by – it’s exactly the kind of place that could easily feature in one of her novels. From its elegant Georgian design and traditionally styled décor to the exemplary service typical of an exquisite boutique, this place oozes elegance.
It’s not all about the old-school hospitality, four-poster beds and traditional setting at this country-house hotel, though. The hotel happens to boast one of the region’s finest restaurants, showcasing superb local produce. It’s also known as being a dreamy hideaway for lovebirds. In addition to its Certificate of Excellence on the site, the hotel also boasts a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award for being one of the UK’s Top 25 Hotels for Romance.

Christmas dinner amazing
Reviewed 23 hours ago

This is quite an expensive eatery. Booked for Christmas dinner under £30 per head. AMAZING......food brilliant and service very good. You could easily spend more on drinks than food as drinks, although served nicely, are very very expensive e.g. Glass of wine over £7 ( could have bought a bottle for that!). If you want a treat I would recommend

Excellent meal .

We ate at this fabulous restaurant on the 2nd of Dec. We loved the art deco feel about the place .I have to say it's probably the best food I've had in a while ! We both ordered the duck starter which were nice and savoury , then we had the pork with the crispy crackling, gorgeous and to finish we had the most beautiful and wobbly raspberry panna cotta . Highly recommended and we shall definitely return.

We arrived on Sunday and was met by the owner who welcomed us, took our bags and showed us to our amazing 4 poster room. We had our dog with us and she was made most welcome even setting up a private dining area so we didn’t disturb any other guests. The staff are amazing, polite and attentive but give you enough space so you don’t feel like they are bothering you - they are just there if you need them. The food was beautiful I had the ox tail ravioli and pheasant and my wife had the blue cheese croquettes and the pork. We both had sticky toffee pudding to finish- all were sublime the chef is very talented indeed. If you are looking for a special night away where you will be looked after and feel special - then this is the place for you. Thank you Beechwood Hotel - first time visitors but we will definitely be back we absolutely loved it here :)

An excellent hotel with a surprise.
The evening meal was excellent and was a part of the deal.
Loved the Art Deco dining room
Staff that are friendly but not cloying.
Only stopped one night but I will certainly return.
The surprise ?
It’s a four star hotel but somehow is registered as a three star ....don’t believe a word of it.

Weekend Break

The is our second stay at the hotel and on both occasions the service, food and accommodation were all excellent - it even passed the mother-in-laws exactly standards!
From arrival Hugh and his team made us all very welcome especially with the cream tea. Rooms were well appointed, clean and comfortable. The four course meal was superb including pre dinner drinks of gin to help relax all. Breakfast like the dinner was again excellent. The hotel is very close to Cromer were we enjoyed a stroll along the beach and before departure we stocked up with the famous Cromer crabs - negative points none!
