Nice hotel in the heart of Chinatown and around teh Corner from Little Italy

Wonderful, modern, clean hotel with decent sized rooms for Manhattan. A couple of restaurants inside hotel and a few minutes away from Chinatown and Little Italy. I highly recommend as a great place to stay in the area. Nice Lobby with very good customer service. They will hold your luggage for a couple of dollars even after you check out. We had a very nice view from our room.

We stayed here for two nights in a room with a queen-size bed on the 11th floor with a view of the new Freedom Tower.The room was a decent size (for NYC hotel rooms) and had floor to ceiling windows. We had a drink in the rooftop lounge on the 17th floor; it was chilly so the outdoor section was not open. The views looking north to the Empire State Building were amazing. We also had dinner in one of the hotels's restaurants, the Shinka Ramen Bar, which was very good (and the pork rib appetizer was exceptional). We didn't feel like having breakfast at the hotel and the young woman at the reception desk recommended a good restaurant for breakfast a few blocks away (The Egg Store), which was also very good. Not a luxury hotel but still very nice; we had no complaints and will definitely stay here again using our Wyndham Rewards points.

The pros:
good location with an easy access to subway (B and D trains)
plenty of food options nearby
friendly house keeping staff. A special thanks to Kumarie.
efficient and quick check-in and check-out

The cons:
My travel agent requested an upgrade on my behalf and they did not even mention it. I got one of the worst rooms with no view on the second floor
The room had a common balcony and there was no privacy because there were people wondering around, kids running and trying to enter my room via balcony door
It was a construction site with scaffolding and that was my view. Nobody actually works there
It was very chilly in my room and the balcony door did not close properly. I could not control the temperature and had to ask the reception to adjust it
The wallpaper had bubbles and a globe was missing in one of the lamps
Food in the bar was not delicious

Overall. it was a very mediocre hotel, probably, of a 3-star tourist standard, no concierge or a ramp for luggage. Not impressed but rather disappointed. For the price I paid (US$170) I felt ripped-off.

First time visiting NYC and really happy to have stayed here great location for us very well looked after clean rooms staff pleasant and helpful
only issue we had was visiting the roof top bar the outside part was not open as it was decided it was to cold
i feel i would have liked to be the judge of the weather i personally thinkk it was down to no staff as ther was only one barmaid (who was very pleasent and helpfull) still graet views

Sad to say that I wouldn't go back

It was our first time staying at a Wyndham. We were not expecting much, just a decent room to stay in and that's what we got. So far so good.

If I don't book a Hilton I don't need a lot of service and don't care much for it, however I am sad to say the opposite of service was what we received. On the last day we wanted to check out at 10 (noon checkout available) and leave our bags behind until 1.30pm. The lady behind the counter wanted $3 per bag - odd and this wasn't charged when we arrived and left our bags until check in. As we had three bags the grand total was $9. I didn't want to kick up a fuss and just accepted it, reached for the wallet and pulled out a $20. The lady mentioned that she didn't have change and that was it. I expected her to get some from the bar in the foryer but nothing, she wanted to charge it to the card. As I had cash left and didn't want to exchange $20 I said $10 will do. The response was that she only had large bills. I think the charge in the first place is poor service and if a small arbitrary charge is raised that is uncommon and not mentioned anywhere, change should be on hand.

Beyond that throughout the stay, the staff was not visible or welcoming, just neutral.

The lift buttons and card reader didn't work - we stayed on the fifth floor and had to press the up button to get a lift to the lobby. Tough luck if someone on an above floor called the lift as well. You'll have to go up first. One of the two lifts didn't have a function card reader which meant anyone could go to the guest rooms. This happened multiple times when a questionably looking fella just strolled in and followed us to the room or didn't know where he was going.

While the room was good the soundproofing was not, we heard taxis and cars honking frequently. We were on the fifth floor.

Don't look out for signage at the entrance. It is a construction site with scaffolding, however nobody actually works there. If you have heavy luggage think again, there are some stairs at the entrance and no ramp etc.

The location is alright but then again, unless you're keen on a Chinatown and walking past smelly fish on the way to the train station this light be a bit of a negative.

The advertised rate on their website was $319 for the night, we got it for $120 - it wouldn't be worth much more than that.
