How to Get There
I stayed here recently with my daughters during a visit to New York. The suite was very large and clean and we couldnt fault it. The furnishings are slightly dated but for the price we paid we were more than happy. We chose the suite as there were 3 of us and we thought it would give us more room and it really was perfect for us. We had nice views of the Hudson from the living room and were surprised at just how spacious the accomodation was. The hotel was quite a way from anything although there is an underground station right next to the hotel so its easy to get about. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and stored our luggage for free on our final day as we checked out in the moring but had an evening flight home. We did find the corridor as you leave the lift on our floor very odd as the lighting was extremely low and the colour scheme odd with a large mirror resting on the floor against the wall. We joked that it looked like the sort of seedy 1980s hotel you see on TV where you rent rooms by the hour but once we got in the room we were quite happy and all in all I would definitely recommend this hotel for the price, the accomodation and value for money
The location is lovely......
However, the hotel staff are not too helpful with assisting in directions or reservations. Did not seem to be too knowledgeable of tricks to getting show tickets etc. (Unless you want to spend $$$$$).
The room was spacious but the hideabed old mattress and torn skirt on it. Did not have an extra blanket first night....they ran out of them.
Tub was plugged but they did fix when asked. Should not have had to bring to the attention. Cleaning room service daily was a quick bed make. Nothing extra.
Ordered a car service to the airport, was told $50.00. Got to the airport and it was 65.00. I suppose the hotel does not know of the tolls. Again not very educated in New York experiences.
Don’t think I will stay again.
very spacious suite with large closets and full kitchen. sheets and towels were fresh and clean. rooms were as clean as it could be considering that it could use some updating-weird quirks in bathroom such as a toilet lid that could not be opened entirely as the counter made it impossible, no exhaust fan to let out shower steam, and a cabinet with no door-just bare hinges??! The water pressure was great regardless. The corridors were dark and the elevators made me feel like i was in the netflix show altered carbon-but that added to the fun for us!
Very courteous desk staff. Surprised to see the amount of space--full kitchen and separate living/sleeping areas. Not a new building, but very nicely maintained. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Felt very safe in this neighborhood.
My daughter and I stayed in a suite on the eighth floor on the west side of the building overlooking the surrounding buildings and the corner of the two streets below. The large windows in the living room and the bedroom offered this lovely view. There is also a fully outfitted kitchen with all appliances including a dishwasher and toaster. We had some problems with the stove but management said they were a little tricky to operate. The air conditioning was controlled in each room independently. The bed was very comfy and there was a choice of pillows soft to firm. The bathroom was large enough to comfortably shower and do hair and makeup; in fact the whole suite was bigger that most hotel suites in New York. Since it was a comfortable space, we spent a lot of time in the room just catching up. It was very quiet; we heard a bit of street noise but it was not disturbing and housekeeping was fabulous. The suite was very clean. Across the street was a great deli (bagels and cream cheese every morning for breakfast and a couple of pizza restaurants. A Starbucks right across the intersection. A grocery store about two blocks south and the Q line subway was right on the corner. A very relaxing place to eat and chill after a hectic day in the city. I highly recommend the Marmara Manhattan.
