How to Get There
Enjoyed our stay 3 years ago, so it made sense to us to return again. One bedroom apartment this time, clean & comfy and with the added bonus of the Q line on the doorstep. We had a comfy bed, sleeping was just fine with very little noise from street, 22nd floor & a view of the East River from lounge. Kitchen & bathroom could do with a makeover , both looking tired but not a deal breaker for us, kitchen contained all we required for our 4 nights. We found the neighbourhood quiet & ok to walk around in the evening .
We stayed here with Family for Thanksgiving. A 2 bedroom suite. The rooms are spacious with fully equipped kitchens.
Great views. The staff is helpful and very nice. It is next to the last stop on the Q line so it’s very convenient to get to other parts of the city.
Will stay here again especially for an extended stay in New York City.
We booked our honeymoon through virgin holidays for the 6th November to 17th November. 4 nights of this was to stay in the Marmara in New York.
A few months before arriving I emailed the hotel to arrange to be located in a higher room for a better view of the city. We got given the 29th Floor which was lovely and we loved having the balcony. But also I asked the hotel within the conversation we had over the email, if it was possible to have a couple of things set up to make our arrival a little bit more special and ofcourse to surprise my wife (roses and champagne in the room) They agreed for me to leave it to them and that they will be make it special for us. When we arrived I was excited to start our honeymoon in New York with my wife being surprised by arriving with champagne and some beautiful roses and rose petals on the bed. But I ended up being disappointed with nothing being left in the room for us. We put our settled our things in and went out to explore abit, as going past the front desk I explained to the guy the situation and he apologised and said he will set something up the next day for when we arrive back from our day out. I felt a little better and was happy enough for that. Next day, nothing had been set up or anything. I gave up trying as I knew they wasn’t actually bothered making our honeymoon special.
Also to add, my wife had her depression prescription tablets disappear on our first day being there so we had to go run around New York to loads of different medical centres/doctors to get the medicine for her which cost $100. So we got the medicine and then put it back in our room then went out sight seeing for the day and when we returned our room had been cleaned and everything on our table had been cleared (including my wife’s tablets) we were shocked and I immediately went to the front desk and reported it, the guy was shocked and we were very close to calling the police as we thought someone had stolen it.
The guy from front desk came back to us after we went back to our room whilst he tried to sort it out and explains that he wants me to go with him to check the trash that housekeeping collect today. The medicine was in there with my unopened packet of doughnuts and our travel papers.
Very very disgusted in this and upset that the cleaners don’t have any clue in their service and just throw anything away in the trash with no care.
This made our experience very anxious and worried that our things were not safe whilst staying at the hotel.
Just returned from a weekend visit to NYC and stayed in the Marmara. The trip was part of a group visit to NY and a return sailing on the Queen Mary 2 so the crowd were mostly senior citizens (we are not quite there yet). Both my wife and I loved the hotel, the hotel was recently opened and it felt new. It was modern, trendy and the location was superb with a tube station a matter of feet away. Our room was well thought out with everything you needed and had a view to die for looking directly on to the Empire State Building. It also had an amazing spa centre and one of the best roof top bars in town serving fantastic cocktails. We had both room service and ate in the main restaurant and enjoyed both encounters. But the best feature was the staff they were great, very polite and immaculately presented so many thanks to Yolanda Garcia and her team for making us feel so welcome. Summary: The Marmara is a Uberchic hotel and I personally loved it, it was vibrant, modern and classy and I would definitely return.
We were pleasantly surprised that our room had a view of the Empire State Bldg from the 26th floor, with a balcony. It was also very spacious - with a full kitchen, living room, dining room, two bathrooms, laundry, and a bedroom - it was way more than we expected. The room was clean, it was nice to have maid service - but the amenities are rather dated. Completely functional, but the carpeting has seen better days and the furnishings did look a bit thrown together from the 1980s? Loved the location - walking distance to lots of sights, close to eats and coffee, short walk to Central Park. Right next door to a Subway Stop. I would return here, and bring the whole family actually - it was so convenient and spacious. The doormen and the front desk staff were very helpful and friendly.
