Overview

Historic midtown Manhattan hotel with a romantic bar and lots of creature comforts

The Lowdown

This historic 114-room Midtown hotel (James Dean lived here for two years in the 1950s!) aims to make life in the Big Apple easy. There’s a concierge to book tickets to Broadway shows (you can put in a request online before ever leaving home), and you can walk to theater district in minutes. The gym, complete with Finnish Sauna, is open 24 hours so you can always find time to work out. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, there’s Triomphe, a celebrated French restaurant, and Lanter’s Keep, a speakeasy-style bar for post-dinner nightcaps.

In the Area

Two blocks from Grand Central Station, the Iroquois is within walking distance of major corporations, which suits the business crowd, and several top sights, which works for tourists. Guests can walk to any Broadway show, head over to Bryant Park to picnic or watch movies in summer and ice skate in winter, or visit the New York Public Library year-round. Forgot your comfy walking shoes? No big deal. Saks Fifth Avenue’s original flagship store is just around the corner—along with just every other boutique you can imagine.

"Small town" New York City
Reviewed 21 hours ago

I would suggest this place for a very enjoyable stay either while doing business or just a fun weekend in the city. If you are uncertain where to dine ask "Seth the doorman", obviously a seasoned New Yorker,
You will not be disappointed!

Do not stay here if you are a woman traveling alone!

I stayed at the Iroquois on business in December of 2018 and March of 2019. Both trips I returned to my room late at night and a maintenance person was in the hallway near my hotel room doing "touch up" painting. I did not feel safe either trip! I will not stay here again!!!

Great location in NYC

This hotel is located right near 5th avenue going east and also near Broadway and theaters going west.
Perfect for a short stay in the city. Hotel is clean, beds great. NO views from rooms but if you are in the city, you are probably doing theater or sightseeing , right? Restaurant being updated so it's closed til summer of 2019. Staff excellent, especially the doormen..
Lobby very tiny. Staff very very helpful and courteous.

Boutique Hotel in Midtown

Pleasant stay for a quick business/leisure trip. The bed was comfortable and the heated floors was a plus considering the frigid temperatures outside! Location is conveniently placed in Midtown, close to shops and subways stations. Penn Station and Grand Central are less than a mile away (10-15 minute walk).
