A sleek hotel in the buzzing Times Square area, doors away from legendary Broadway theaters - includes a family-friendly option with bunk beds

The Lowdown

TRYP Times Square could deck itself out into something so bright and bold that you’d never want to leave, but then you’d miss out on the landmark that it’s named for. With its flashing lights and vivid videos, Times Square out-brights and out-bolds pretty much everywhere else on Earth, and that’s why this property a half-block away from the iconic plaza keeps things sleek, modern and simple.
Wake up in the most energetic neighborhood of the city that never sleeps, and stroll a few minutes over to the main drag itself, where the skyscraper-side screens never stop cycling through ads in high-definition technicolor. Take your breakfast to the electric-red steps rising high above the bustling pedestrians, and hop back down to score Broadway tickets at the TKTS booth. Hit any of the 10 nearby subway lines to travel almost anywhere you want in the city, and then head back in the evening to your show of choice. Chances are that its theater will be within doors of your room at TRYP.

Rooms at TRYP are simple, comfortable spaces designed to leave the dazzling to the main attraction: nearby Times Square. Choose from one queen, one king bed or two twins, or upgrade to the spacious family-friendly option. Premium rooms have one queen bed and one bunk bed. Please note that bunk beds are suitable for children only.

TRYP has two tempting restaurants lined up to choose from. Seek An’nam specializes in wholesome Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine, and Ding – opening soon – will be your go-to for smoky, belly-filling BBQ food. Primary Lounge, the property’s bar, also offers premium drinks.

As a guest at TRYP, you’re a half-block from Times Square itself, and almost next door to legendary Broadway theaters. Tack on another few blocks, and you’re at the Empire State Building or Madison Square Garden. Should you want to hit another neck of the woods entirely, you’re within six blocks of 10 subway lines that can take you to almost every Manhattan neighborhood, and beyond.

Fabulous experience

I have just returned from a 4 night stay with my mother and other 2 sisters, and had a great time! We had the family room which was really spacious and very clean (the maids also attended daily with fresh towels and coffee top ups!).

Was nervous about our stay due to dome reviews however the Gallivant did not dissapoint, staff were extremely helpful and pleasant during our stay!

Amazing location, right in the heart of Times Square and so close to Subway, tour bus stops and lots of bars and restaurants 😊

My friend and i had 4 nights here. We checked in with a cold welcome.. no..'welcome to tge gallivant' or 'enjoy your stay'. Just sign here and i need your credit card. By the way.. we paid £120 dollars room tax for 4 nights so put that aside. The lifts were far to small for such a big hotel. They were slow to get to ground so we would often walk up to the 7th floor and very hard to get into from there as they always passed by full so it was a 7 floor walk to the lobby.
The room we had was a good size.. i did here people complaining that the rooms were tiny so maybe ph ahead to ask for a large room? We had a room facing the road so it was noisy at times, there is a fire house just 100 yards up on the corner so we heard a few sirens as it passed by.. must have been really loud on lower floors! To finish on a good note the bed was really comfy so after a long day seeing the sights and a couple of drinks on the eve that was very welcome. Definitely wouldnt call it a 4* as TUI did but it was 4 nights so we got on with it.

Saturday night in Times Square.

Room was small but fit our needs. VERY clean. Balcony was an unexpected extra. All the staff was super friendly and helpful. Hotel allows check in of bags before and after your stay which made it very easy to deal with the 3pm and 12pm check in and checkout times.

Great hotel

I have just returned from a 3 night stay at The Gallivant and I was pleasantly surprised. I had been given the trip to NYC as a 40th birthday present back in January from my boyfriend and have been reading the mixed reviews on here since then. I was nervous if im honest as the reviews were so mixed but upon arrival there was absolutely nothing to worry about. The hotel is clean, the staff were friendly and the location is just amazing. It took us about 20 seconds to walk to the famous Times Square steps. The room wasn’t enormous but it was perfect just for the 2 of us and the shower was lovely and hot! I would defiantly recommend the hotel and we would definitely stay there again!

Location is main attraction for this hotel

Hotel is in an amazing location close to the main tourist spots. The lobby is very modern on arrival, reception staff were very straight to point not as welcoming as could have been. Room size was fine and clean, did not find the room it’s set small as others found-although the bathroom was tight. Although could hear the city due to central location it did not effect our sleep. This was a perfect base for anyone who wants to explore New York. Shame about charge to store bags on departure been to Budget hotels who don’t even charge for this service.
