How to Get There
Staybridge Suites Times Square - New York was the perfect hotel for us! It was the first time my Mom, sister and niece ever experienced the city. It’s a great location - close to sightseeing and Broadway shows. Jaime (the bellman) ROCKED!! His customer service and friendly help made our trip even more memorable. Thank you! We’ll be back. :)
We recently stayed in the hotel for one night prior to boarding a cruise. The staff was friendly and the breakfast buffet was good. We had two issues: First, the shower in our room didn't drain properly and neither did the one in my Mom's room. Second, I'd say the major issue we had was in waiting for the elevators. Generally it would take forever to get up or down. I suppose that is always an issue in a big city but it was particularly an issue for our party as we had 2 folks in wheelchairs that couldn't get an elevator to pick them up from the fifth floor unless they called security and had a security guard ride up the elevator for them to bring it up empty. One time they waited more than 20 minutes to get downstairs. This is also probably not the hotel's fault, I guess its more a statement about the level of courtesy of the other guests.
This was one of the nicest hotel rooms we ever had in NYC. It was a big enough room with a good kitchen – full sized ‘fridge, two burner stove, microwave, dishwasher and surprisingly well stocked with dishes etc. I wish they had included to go cups rather than just ceramic mugs for the in-room coffee but I later discovered that they have those in the lobby during the free breakfast. The shower was very tiny – think cruise ship only smaller. I was not crazy about the angles & the water never got hotter then tepid; on a frigid (19°F) December morning cool water was not what I wanted. As another reviewer said, the elevator waits especially at check out time were ridiculous.
NYC is much improved over the bad old days when Times Square was downright terrifying but there was still a large concentration of questionable people in the area at night. As a woman I would not have been comfortable walking in the area at night by myself after having had a few drinks. Not the hotel's fault but think about your safety when heading back.
Overall I was perfectly happy.
I didn’t know what to expect, I never stayed at a Staybridge before but I can honestly say I will definitely stay at this particular hotel again. It was close to everything, Time square, Bryant park and the theatre district. The bonus of this hotel is free breakfast. So glad we took a chance on this one.
With my friend not subway friendly, we chose this location so we could walk to all the major sites and it worked perfectly. Even the long walk to the Staten Island Ferry was a very enjoyable stroll but I did get her on the subway back!
The breakfasts were always good, the staff very friendly and helpful and the bedrooms clean, spacious and comfy.
We stayed on the fifth floor and to the front which although very noisy was handy that we could use the stairs when the elevators were busy.
This location is noisy although staying higher up may be quieter but you then need to be aware of the wait time for the elevators when busy.
The air conditioners are slightly noisy as old style but we got used to them.
The showers are just okay, not very good pressure but they do the job.
If visiting NYC again, we would stay here.
