New York New York

Picked this hotel as I thought it was reasonably close to Times Square. It is but not as close as I thought. My bad 😊 staff are very friendly and welcoming. Room was great. Clean and a reasonable size for New York. The rooms have small kitchen areas and the rooms are air conditioned. Breakfast is included which is a plus and so is afternoon tea with wine. Main problem we encountered were the lifts. Longest wait time was 24 mins. There are three lifts but during peak times they are so full you can’t get into them especially with luggage. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get to the lobby in the morning when you checkout. Also the street that the hotel is in is a bit seedy. Doesn’t feel very safe walking down it late at night. Apart from that - it is close to walk to most places and near public transport.

very good but has flaws

Hotel room has all you need air conditioning noisy and fridge.
Room is cleaned every day which is a real bonus and sheets changed, clean towels.
Need more lifts would be useful.
Reception could not help me when i explained i could not make a call to the UK using the hotel room telephones.
Area is not great but makes up for it being a great location for being close to all attractions, subway, bus terminal as well.
Breakfast had everything you need not always to my taste but plenty there and very clean, and very happy and helpful staff out of the whole hotel.

Terrible honeymoon
Reviewed 3 days ago

We came for our honeymoon and Was promised a room with a view and the “view” was of a brick wall.. disappointing. Breakfast was terrible. We stayed here specifically for the morning breakfast as we had many tours to head to and also didn’t want to spend extra money but ended up having to every day or wait until lunch. The breakfast was totally empty and so picked over by 8am.... every morning(4 days). We tried all the different spots they serve breakfast level one and basement and it was the same. Every time barely any food left at all except bagels and cold eggs. One day there was pancakes but they were almost black and the ones that weren’t totally black were so hard we couldn’t cut into them. Such a let down. Elevators aren’t great, takes 20 minutes to get from top floor to the 1st floor. We won’t be back next time. Only plus was housekeepers made the bed and picked up our room daily and I appreciated that. Also front desk was rude. Also when I booked the trip and asked about military rate since my husband is active military they gave me a higher rate than the normal rate. Total disgrace to service members. Overall wouldn’t recommend for similar price you can find a better hotel.

Great location but --- $5 housekeeping charge?
Reviewed 4 days ago

This is a nice, standard hotel in a great location, near the 42nd St Port Bus Authority stop from which you can easily catch the subway, and within walking distance to Broadway shows and many restaurants. The staff are very helpful, from the front desk to housekeeping to the food service staff. We never had a problem with the three elevators although we were on the 23rd floor! The buffet breakfast was nice but the eggs were always cold; they'll need to figure out a better way to keep them. Three cons: the air conditioning unit is very noisy, the "business center" had two laptops and two iPads, none of which were working well enough to be used to print our boarding passes, and there's a $5 HOUSEKEEPING CHARGE! per day. Really?! That should be included in the cost of the room, it's an unnecessary annoyance and leaves a bad final taste in the mouth. Bad idea.

The hotels location is not in the nicest part of NYC, but it is located quite practical right next to the bus terminal, port Authority. A lot of NYC's tourist attractions are within walking distance of the hotel. There are several nice restaurants close to the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel is ok, but nothing special. Westway diner is 5 min away and a very nice place for breakfast. The 2 bros pizza place on 9th ave is allright for a quick bite. Hummus and pitaplace on 8th ave is nice, there is a nice indian restaurant on 9th and so on.
Hotel staff is friendly. Make sure to ask for the upper floors, as high up as possible. Airco is quite noisy.
