How to Get There
Quite big rooms. It’s all getting a bit tired but not threadbare or anything and that’s reflected in the price. Yes the lifts are a problem at busy times. The included breakfast was really good. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
The location is about as central as you can get. Like the Disney-fied Tine Square two blocks up I imagine it was a bit colourful a few years back. Now the block is almost entirely similar hotels, there is one ‘interesting’ liquor store- but I wonder if that’s more of a living museum now.
Then the world’s biggest subway station has an entrance 50 m a away- although you can walk right to the other side of Time Square underground should you do wish.
I’d stay there again.
I refer to a previous review in June and agree with everything stated.
We arrived late after a long flight. My agent had miss sold the accommodation. This was not the fault of the hotel. The manager was very understanding this was not the first time this had happened. I must say that she was excellent but the hotel is disgusting. She tried to address the basic issues as we had two nights before moving. Hideous.
Dirty, run down, the rooms are not as shown, very small, our fridge was broken, the lights and shower head in the bathroom were broken, the pillows not fit to use, the net curtains grey with dirt, the carpets filthy, the decor drab and damaged, the lifts terrible, we had to walk 6 flights of stairs, the breakfast poor, set in a very run down and filthy part of town. Homeless people and rubbish everywhere.
The hotel is actually closing soon according to the staff. Do not go there.
Hotel is easy to get too if you are driving into the City. The location makes it easy to walk over the city. Breakfast was good, staff is very friendly but elevators are hard to catch in the morning and evening. I would recommend staying if you are wanting to be close to Times Square and broadway shows!
Great for families who want a quiet location and free breakfast. There were a lot of options for breakfast and everyone left happy. Comfy beds and much quieter than staying closer to times square, but we could easily walk there.
We have stayed in many hotels all over the world. This must be one of the worst hotels we ever stayed in and how this hotel got a 4.5 rating we very unsure of. We travelled the USA for 4 weeks and this was the most disappointing hotel by far and was our biggest mistake on our 4 week tour.
The only 2 positive things we can say about this hotel was the check-inn late night by a very helpful gentleman Paul and the fact that he organised to get our valuables out of the safe that we forgot. The rest was just depressing. The breakfast was included and ok, just very ok. Besides Paul, we were not impressed with the rest of the staff. Very unhelpful. Stayed in NYC previously and this hotel for us was situated in a rundown horrible part of the city with tons of homeless people and scaly characters. It’s 100% not soundproof and we had extreme difficulty in sleeping. It is a very dirty run down place. The carpets in the lifts were filthy. They hardly cleaned up after someone left their table at breakfast. Our curtains were halfway broken and the table lamp hanged all skew. We waited forever for the lift. Not on one occasion, but every single day. Our mugs were not washed, although we payed for cleaning services. I won't recommend this hotel even to my biggest enemy. We were extremely disappointed. There are so many other great hotels in NYC, don’t bother to look at this one.
