How to Get There
We were very comfortable. Normally when visiting New York we accept really small quarters to keep our budget limits. We were happy we spent a little more and had an excellent stay. And the staff is very personable. Not much of a view from our room, but certainly in the area we wanted. The restaurant is also very interesting and different and worth a try.
Stayed here with my 12-year-old daughter for a short excursion to NYC. The hotel exceeded our expectations. Very quiet and clean with super comfortable beds and friendly, attentive staff. Solid free WiFi. The location is great (right by the train) and the price was very reasonable. We’ll be staying again. Our new affordable “go-to” hotel in NYC.
When hotels get fantastic reviews on Tripdadvisor, they don't always deserve them. This one does.
It is located in the heart of Manhattan, within a walking distance to the Rockfeller Center and 5th avenue, and two Subway stations are very close, making it even easy to travel from JFK airport to the hotel by Subway.
The hotel staff was always very friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are quiet, spacious and clean.
We (two adults and two teenagers) stayed one week. We asked for a rollaway bed to be added in the room as we didn't want to share bed. It has its additionnal cost but it was surprinsigly comfortable.
The kitchenette is super useful when, like me, you don't want to spend hours (three times a day) trying to find a restaurant which fits everybody.
I would only have two small complains:
-the sofa bed in the room is not very comfortable...
-the breakfast in the restaurant attached to the hotel was a disappointment.. It is cheaper than in most other places but offers little.
Overall, I'll definitely come back there for my next stay in the city
Stayed two nights here in June, midweek. Room was comfortable and clean. Would have appreciated a comfortable chair for reading or TV ( there was only a single desk chair).
Staff was helpful and friendly. Did not try food sources in hotel.
Hotel is on a section of street where it can be hard to hail a cab. Doorman was helpful here. If Broadway is your main interest, be aware that it takes a while to traverse crosstown. Streets are often one lane so the meter can tick while you sit idle.
Price was about $760 including tax and fees for two nights.
I absolutely recommend the san Carlos hotel !!!!!! Everyone was so so nice and the rooms are very very roomy!!!!
They were so accommodating about everything. I would stay here every time I come to new York city. Michael was exceptionally nice.
