Millennial-minded hotel that’s all about fun and play, with an arcade and rec room
From the cheeky décor and DJ-bumping bar to the high school gym-inspired events space, the Moxy NYC Downtown is a stay meant for play. Flirty details in the 298 guest rooms range from peek-a-boo windows in the oversized showers to hanging chairs beside the beds—along with out-of-the-ordinary touches like denim robes, PAPER magazines, and old-school landline phones. The retro theme continues downstairs at Recreation, a lounge bar with a rec room-inspired arcade machine, Skee-Ball, Jenga, tabletops painted with chess boards, and a cocktail program courtesy of Jon Neidich (also behind Acme, The Happiest Hour, and Slowly Shirley). In the adjacent event space, you’ll even find a half basketball court and foosball and ping pong tables against a backdrop of sporty school flags. Party there all night, but when daylight rolls around, the entire scene reverts back into a communal co-working space. Bring your laptop down, grab an artisanal coffee and croissant from the bar, and get to work.
In the Area
Located smack in the middle of FiDi, the Moxy NYC Downtown is minutes away from some of the city’s top attractions. Visit the architectural Oculus for more than 350,000 square feet of dining and shopping, or head down to Battery Park for harbor views and a ride on the famous SeaGlass Carousel. The hotel is also only half a mile from the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, a powerful tribute to one of the most important days in the city’s history. For dinner, nosh on pasta and pizza at Italian marketplace and restaurant Eataly Downtown, then cap the night off with drinks at Fresh Salt, a low-key neighborhood bar known for its old-school charm and friendly staff.
How to Get There
This hotel is an oasis of brightness and action in an otherwise dark and lonely street. Great atmosphere, clean and comfy rooms, nice views. Love the furnishings but wish there had been a desk to work on.
I love everything about this brand! But what captures my attention is the outstanding customer service of Rafael! He helped everyone with passion, care and genuinely. From check-in to check-out he was there to help me And everyone else. I see his heart on what he do. His smile is one of his greatest asset. He makes my trip to JFK much conveniently by offering a taxi and helped me and my mother with our luggages. Everytime he sees a guest he opens the door for them and even ‘pressing’ the button of the elevator. A simple gesture that gives a great impact to customer service. I can’t wait to go back in New York and stay in this hotel again. This is my TOP priority hotel when looking for a hotel in NYC. And please give my two thumbs-up to Rafael! I appreciate everything he do! ????????????????????
My husband and I recently spent a long weekend at the Moxy downtown and had the BEST time. The hotel is beautiful, the service was great, the room was very clean and had such cute details (we loved the hanging chair and the barn door to the bathroom), the location is perfect (walking distance to so much shopping and great restaurants) - I could go on and on. We will definitely be back!!
