Nice clean hotel
Reviewed 1 month ago

We booked a family room at The Leon, we were really impressed with it, the family room consisted of 2 double beds with an en suite with double doors opening on to another double bed also with an ensuite. We loved the window seat. The hotel was very clean and very comfortable indeed. The plastic cups were all individually wrapped, as they should be, unfortunately they only had creamer powder rather than real milk but rather fabulously there was a fridge in the room. In the basement there is a well stocked vending machine, an ice machine, and more wrapped cups.
The concierge staff were all lovely and so helpful.
We had a great time.
The hotel isn't in the most sulubrious location but thats reflected in the price and the transport links are good. We walked to Brooklyn across the Brooklyn bridge and walked back to the hotel across the Manhattan bridge. Do not be fooled by the Manhattan bridge it is MILES longer than it looks!
I would highly recommend The Leon but make sure you're happy with the location. Pic three was the view from our room.

Great Location - neat little hotel

Great location right next to China Town and Little Italy. Overlooking Manhattan Bridge. Short walk to Brooklyn and new area of DUMBO. Very nice front desk. My room was a corner and windows were huge giving a great view, especially in the evening. Also there was a padded ledge along the window making it a great place to sit and eat/read etc while looking out the windo.

Quiet and comfortable

Stayed here for 2 nights. Had a room overlooking the Manhattan Bridge that had a very nice window seat. Comfortable beds. Receptionists were very friendly and helpful. Location is near Grand Ave subway - a plus. Downside is that bathroom is somewhat cramped with poor lighting. The AC/Heat controls are central during certain seasons of the year which means you can’t vary the temperature by room so I’d ask about that when you book.

Great room, great hotel!

This hotel is a gem, located in the center of China Town, at the base of the Manhattan Bridge. While I have no love at all for China Town, the subway stops are close (a five minute walk to most) and the area feels very safe. The hotel itself is exactly what every hotel should be - clean, quiet, and comfortable. We had a king bed that was super comfortable. Private bathroom was clean and quiet. Water pressure perfect. The window opens. There is even a huge window seat to sit in and look out the window or read. I've never seen a window seat in a hotel. Such a great idea. There was even free filtered water in the basement to refill our water bottles. Never seen that before either. The staff were kind and helpful. Needless to say, I was very impressed.

Credit card charged a week before checking in.
Reviewed 2 months ago

I was going to stay here, but after they charged my card a full week before I was even due to check in, I cancelled. I called the booking agency and told them what happened. They then called the hotel and told them it could be up to 15 days for my refund. No explanation as to why they charged my card a full 7 days in advance of checking in. Pretty shady billing practices. Way too many hotels in Manhattan to have to deal with this kind of nonsense. You have been warned.
