There’s an Art Deco meets modern Mediterranean vibe to the lobby lounge in this 1920s building, with stucco-like textured walls, overlapping mismatched mirrors and retro glam copper and silver lamps. The muted color scheme of silvery white, ecru and chocolate finds a sexy counterpart in curvaceous eggplant velvet chairs and a low-slung chaise longue fronting a glowing fireplace. The 205 rooms feel much more fresh and modern thanks to the townhouse-inspired decor of fresh white Frette linens, chrome and lacquer bed-stands and oversize black armchairs with white piping. Metallic-hued throw pillows add a splash of fun, as do abstract prints on the walls. The amenities, from 42-inch flat-screen TVs to iPod docks and marble-trimmed bathrooms with C.O. Bigelow products, feel indulgent. 70 Park offers the extras found in all Kimpton Hotels, including free newspapers in the lobby, an evening wine reception (from 5-6 p.m.) and a warm welcome to pets of any size. Though there’s no room service, the ground floor Silverleaf Tavern serves Caffe Vita coffee and grab-and-go breakfast by day, and cocktails and bar food by night.
How to Get There
Hotel was spotless the staff were amazing and really looked after you and the hotel was in a nice quiet location.,but on top of New York. Great place to stay. Would re ommend this hotel to all my friends and family.
We stayed here for 8 nights and found it good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You can easily reach Grand Central Station, Empire State Building and also Central Park is not that far away. The room could have been a little bit more clean, but it was OK.
All in all I would recommend this hotel.
Friendly staff and very efficient. Rooms are clean and it feels safe to be here when traveling alone on business. Reasonably priced for midtown, and convenient to restaurants, and accessibility to trains and taxis. This is the 2nd time I have stayed here and will be back next year again.
