Great location...but...
Reviewed 4 hours ago

For our 5 day New York trip we wanted a very central hotel in Times Square. Hyatt Centric has an excellent location...very central. However, when we arrived, we realized that 1 out of the 3 elevators wasn't working. We didn't think it was a big deal at first but it turned out to be a big hassle. There were long lines for the elevators, once the manager even came out and took us up on the service elevator. It gave us some dread whenever we were heading back to the hotel anticipating a long wait for the elevator.

We also found the "security" a bit lacking with extremely unfriendly persons requesting to see your room key...when they chose to be there actually.

The restaurant food was ok but was very pricey. I must say that we did have a good view from our room and from the rooftop bar. Unfortunately, other than their excellent location I wouldn't stay here again.

Nice hotel, convenient location to Times Squarfe

Nice hotel. Check in was helpful and concierge desk was very helpful with local attractions. Clean king size room with large bathroom. Just a few steps from Times Square and Broadway shows. Disappointed with the gym. The exercise equipment is equipped with TVs but I was never able to get them to connect, my last day at the hotel I couldn't get into the gym even though my room key worked elsewhere.

the "destination fee" is a rip-off

First of all, no help with luggage. There are a couple of guys outside but at best, they will open the door. Upon check-in, again no help with luggage offered.

You don't need to use the card to go to the desired floor so ANYONE can walk into the hotel, go to any floor and walk around. I was only asked once - during a one-week stay - to show my hotel card before entering the elevators (you could also easily use an old card to just wave it). I didn't feel very secure.

The "destination fee" is a complete rip-off. It's like being forced to pay for junk mail that you find in your mailbox.

The bar upstairs has a nice view, but for an unknown reasons, it's the only place in NY where tipping in not optional, and there is a forced 18% service charge fee. For service, that is slow, disorganized and generally lacking, let me add.

5 day break

Staff are very welcoming, had to show your room key to security when entering the building, bedroom always clean and asked for robes & slippers which were provided.Roof top bar is worth a visit but very expensive. Did not use the breakfast service as over the road is a Starbucks and if you turn left out of the hotel between 6th / 5th avenue is Cafe Manhattan. Location is excellent for time square, theatre area and attractions. Also the hotel provides a taxi service for airport drop offs at $75 to JFK.

Basic hotel

A clean basic kingroom with a view over new york buildings. A very basic room with coffee facility. No bath only shower.
What i found most annoying there was nobody to help with luggage on arrival or departure we had to lug our own 5 cases !
A bit of a mass room hotel, no personal touch !
If you are looking for basic hotel, near time square this is for you - no frills !!
