3 days in an average hotel

Friends came over on the Queen Mary and this hotel was included in their journey so we elected to stay here also. It is an old historic building with lots of character. The beds were comfortable, super quiet rooms and plenty of hot water.

Supposedly the hotel started a renovation in Oct 2018 but no signs of it were seen anywhere. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful (bellmen) while others were distant and unfriendly.

There is a bar/breakfast room/coffee shop in the lobby that has very, very limited hours. Basically it is open for breakfast and evening drinks only. All three days the lobby and attached sitting area were full of people waiting on their rooms to be prepared and shop was closed. They could have bought drinks and coffees has the hotel thought to add one staff during the day to keep the shop open. Bizarre.

Finally, we paid extra for a corner “suite” with a balcony. The balcony view was nice and good for two people. This was a treat compared to any big-box standard hotel up the street.

Overall, it was an ok stay at an ok hotel. It could be spectacular hotel with some slight improvements especially in the attitude of the staff, provision of drinks/snacks during the day and some dressing up of the lobby areas.

Great hotel and great value

We stayed three nights at the hotel for a long weekend in NYC. The staff was great and the room was well maintained. The hotel is close to Grand Central that you can walk there yet far enough away not to hear all the street noise.

I would highly recommend this hotel for a great NYC trip.

Archer Hotel

My first time here, and what a delight. Really nice hotel in a great location.Nice rooms and bar areas. Breakfast was really good too.
The staff are outstanding at all times, I have to mention Troy and Jonathan who really looked after me on a daily basis, top professionals and a real pleasure to talk to.
