How to Get There
Stayed here because something going on in town, and there was no half decent place to stay even we tried to find a place a month in advance while rooms were double of normal prices. The good(s): a half block from the Natural History Museum metro station that we could get to other parts of the city easily, g,ood house keeping and room was very clean, got a good size suite with a separate sitting room, and a half block from Central Park for a run. The bad(s): tiny tiny bathroom with old plumbing, no exercise room/gym, no good restaurants around (however, a Shake Shack was a block away), and the front desk was not helpful. Will we be back? Probably not!
This review is specifically for Iris.
She provided one-of-a-kind service during our stay. Amazing, helpful, and friendly person; she made our stay! The hotel in general is also extremely classy, and a was a great blind last minute selection we made.
Lobby and bedroom was lovely, oldy worldly but nice and clean. The bathroom was very old fashioned and the shower was terrible. It was very roudy in the lobby with there being a restaurant. There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room. The porter was lovely and really helpful. There was one helpful lady on reception. The others were very rude and busy doing their own thing. It's quite far out from times square. I opted not to pay doe room taxes as I paid enough already. I would stay here again if there was nothing else available.
We booked a deluxe suite for the west side location and found it had a great view. But the rooms were in need of updating. The ac's were very loud and made odd noises while running. The rooms were constantly either too cold or too hot. We requested a refrigerator for the room and they brought one immediately. The bathroom was small with about 12 inches of counter space over the sink and toilet. We had a late flight home and they held our bags for us since we could not get a late checkout. When trying to watch my favorite news station in the evening before going to sleep, we found that although they had every other local and cable news station...they had Direct TV but did not carry Fox News! So for the $$'s and other reasons mentioned our family won't be staying here again.
This hotel wanted to charge me $192 for amenities for a four night stay. I asked what amenities because we did not even have Wi-Fi in our room. Their response was did you sign the sign in sheet when you checked in, of course we signed the required
documents to get admission to our room, but nowhere did it say we would be charged for services we never used. I called my credit card company and stopped the charge. I will never stay here again. This is a rip off hotel. Stay away from this place.
