How to Get There
From the small entrance it's amazing how big this place is inside. No front desk just people on tablets to check you in and it seems to word ok. Complementary flavored water on the wall behind the desk and nice people. The rooms are beautiful and have some modern lighting behind the bed that changes color if you are into that. It was unnecessary as far as I was concerned as well as the excersize equipment in the room. After opening a window I was amazed at how well the soundproofing worked with all the construction in the area. The bathroom fixtures were first class as was the flooring and bed. Coffee maker in the room and ice machines on every other floor and in the basement snack vending area. My biggest complaint is that the sliding door to the bathroom is a loose fit and does NO soundproofing. If you're a a little shy about making sounds in the bathroom that others can easily hear in the bedroom this is a problem. I started running the shower to sort counteract that. They really blew it on this. Everyone likes a little privacy when on the thrown and you don't get it here. The other thing is the fan for the heat and cooling is noisy, at lest in this room. I do not give the EVEN five stars because of this.
I travel to NYC often and have stayed in a variety of places, but this has to be my favourite. The hotel is newer and has very decent sized rooms, especially for NYC. The rooms actually look exactly like the hotel supplied pics on here. The location is great - on the A, C, E subway lines, far enough away from the crowds of Times Square and short walking distance to coffee shops/restaurants/shopping (Starbucks, Andrew's Coffee Shop, Macy's, Liquor store, Penn Station, Madison Sq Grdn). There are 25 floors, recommend staying in the 25th for a nicer view. Only 8 (I think) rooms on each floor. Elevators are quick and secure (need your key to scan to get to your floor). Our room was very clean, bathrooms were modern and each room had yoga mats/exercise ball/resistance bands etc. if you want to work out in private. If not, there is a large, well equipped gym on the main floor. We didn't eat at the restaurant but it offered a good menu, with many healthy options. Free wifi. Free filtered water by the front desk. Happy and helpful front desk staff.
While the location was a tad awkward to find via car, the parking garage across the street worked perfectly. The staff could not have been nicer. It was me and my 14 year old son staying for one night.
Our room was amazing and we had a view of the New Yorker building. I loved the hotel atmosphere and all the work out equipment. We played ping pong and walked to Chelsea Market via the High Line in the morning. I travel a lot and I would definitely stay here again.
We stayed at the Even Hotel in early April and I had two rooms booked for my parents and wife & myself. It was the first time in NYC for my parents visiting from Europe and the location was great for touristy explorations and since we were arriving via train at Penn Station. The rooms were very clean, good size and had nice showers. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful and even surprised us with welcome gifts waiting in our rooms. Thanks to Jon at the front desk! Definitely recommended if you are looking for a place in Midtown Manhatten.
Everything was modern, clean, and worked out very well. The only thing to improve would be to get rid of the barn doors for the bathrooms. If you are sharing the room, they let way too much noise out of the bathroom. I was trying to shower and get ready while my partner was sleeping, and the huge gaps on the sides of the door let all of the noise out.
