How to Get There
This is a great place to stay. The friendly pleasant customer service warms your heart even in 28 degree weather. I spent three days at this hotel and enjoyed calling this home for three days. The general manager made me fill special each time we spoke. He made time for me..
Very well-appointed considering the neighborhood. Warm, comfortable, clean, and safe with reliable WiFi. My only gripe is that they have a small breakfast buffet similar to many other hotels that appears free... but there's a charge, so be ready. Pretty easy to take trains from JFK to within a short walk to the hotel if you have the time and inclination. Easiest way back to the airport for me (and about the same cost as Lyft or a cab) was to have the desk arrange for a car service pickup the next day. Important tip: have the desk clerk double-check with the specific car service they book for you to make sure the car service takes plastic! The desk clerk who booked my ride the night before said the car service took credit cards (I asked), but after I was picked up and on my way the driver told me he didn't have a card reader and I barely had enough cash (65 bucks to get to JFK terminal 4) to pay for the ride and tip.
For the price it was just okay, especially considering the location. In the future I would only consider staying here if my stay was only for a single night, and if nothing else economical is available. I feel that it was a little too costly for such a small room in a less than ideal location.
We stayed in the Wyndham for a week in November, the room, location, staff and manager were excellent. Nothing was to much trouble and the view from the room over Manhattan was fantastic. We emailed them to advice that it was our daughters 13 birthday and the went all out and decorated the room with balloons. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the metro and 30 minutes by metro from Manhattan and all the local attractions. I would highly recommend staying in the Wyndham if you are visiting NY, and thanks to the team for making us feel so welcome.
Lovely, clean hotel with friendly staff. Room really compact but very cosy. Not the best location and limited options for dining out, but close to subway station so you can easily venture out. Lovely continental breakfast!
