How to Get There
Big rooms with budget car rental at hotel which makes it a good option if you want to be based just outside Manhattan and intend to pick up a car and head East (eg to the Hamptons). Not a great option if you will be spending any time in midtown as it’s a 30 min subway ride / 20 min Uber to midtown. It’s also 20 mins walk from the hotel till you step onto the Brooklyn Bridge (there are no views of the bridge from the hotel) so don’t think you are close to the bridge. The Park Plaza diner nearby is excellent for families. Our room on a low floor had views of the garbage at the side of the hotel which was a bit grim.
Most people will overlook this hotel as it is near the courthouse, but that would be a mistake. You can be anywhere in the area thanks to the nearby subway intersections. Our stay started with Maria at check in, who upgraded the room "as her birthday present to us". The room had a view of the Brooklyn Bridge and was clean, roomy, and very comfortable. The lounge was well taken care of by Richard and Leonard. Both men did all in their powers to make the stay relaxing. Front desk staff were very accommodating in arranging outings. Bell cap was phenomenal in his encyclopedic knowledge of subway lines and stations. Small park like sitting area beside the hotel is great for evening relaxation.
I think most people would think of this location as a business only site but would be missing one of the best locations for personalized service in New York City. I would stay here again if I need to be anywhere in New York City.
It was my birthday this weekend and my boyfriend wanted to do something special for me so we decided to go to New York. We look forward to this all week, the pictures we saw of our room where beautiful little did we know what we were getting into. After making a reservation my boyfriend then called the hotel to see if they could do something special in the room and the response he received was that they only do things like that for the marriot reward members. He didn’t tell me till after but I knew that was false information because I worked for ays and it was my duty to make every guest have a fulfilled experience, if it was your first time visiting or if you was a returning guest. When we arrived at the hotel we had a lot of baggage so we put all our things on the bell cart and the man standing near the door the whole time then asked us if we needed assistance after we place all our items on the cart. We had finished doing the hard part so we just thought we move our stuff up to the room, so we said no thank you. He then replied, well if your using that cart you will need insistence. I was appalled by this, because you would think if that was the case, when he saw us walk in the building rather then watching us, he would have kindly went up to us and ask us, may I take your bags for you and place it in the cart himself. That was just our first impression on how the customer service was at this hotel. Arriving at the lobby check in was such a hassle, the lady at the front desk seemed bothered, when we gave her the reservation number and our forms of identification she pulled up our reservation. Our room was a king bed suit with a view. she kept looking into the reservation making sure we gave her the right information. We showed her the email a second time and looked at the reservation and told us, “I just want to make sure this is your room and I’m not giving someone else’s room to you. I took it as she was insinuating it wasn’t our room”. It seem as if there was a problem on how much she looked into it. We started to get impatient at this point so my boyfriend pulled up the reservation number that was emailed to him and she confirmed that the last name and the reservation number matched but asked us to hold one more minute before she goes forward. After that she told us the first name on the reservation was na. My boyfriend then responded, well my name is not na but the booking on line didn’t require a first name, so maybe you mistaking for na to mean not available she then replied ok make sense after being at the front desk for about maybe fifteen, twenty minutes of her looking in to it she then checked us in. We finally arrived to our room and was very displeased on how different our room looked from the pictures they had when booking the reservation. We did have a great view but we also was under the impression that we had a sitting area and better looking bathroom. The pictures we saw when making the reservation was an all white bathroom with glass doors on the shower and a bigger tub. In the room it also had a sitting area but when we arrived in our room it was just the bed. We called the front desk to make sure that we were in the right room and we told them what we had expected and what we got. The lady told us that the had to remove the couch because the people who were in the room before broke it. She told us if they were to give us a room with the sitting area we would loose out on our view. This got me very aggravated because this wasn’t the room we were looking forward for to staying in. To try to fix the issue they offered us a free breakfast but that wasn’t going to help considering our reservation included breakfast. So there was nothing they could do for us without us loosing out and this was very disappointing. It was not what we payed for nor it was the room we looked forward to staying when booking the reservation As far at you service, they did not complete my request at a timely manner. The first thing I asked for was a toothbrush and toothpaste and it took them about 40 minutes maybe longer to complete. I had went down stairs and came back up twice and still didn’t receive the items I asked for. The second time I called it was for water, and I didn’t receive it untill the next day in the afternoon. The third time I called it was for a bandage, 20 min went by and my boyfriend called to check on when they were coming up and the man at the front desk told him that he has them and the bandage are right in front of him but it busy and he has guest in front of him. I it’s all the excuses this hotel gave us and how much they couldn’t accommodate us with our request, I would not recommend to stay at this hotel to anyone. The area of the hotel is great because it’s right nea the trainstaion but the customer service is horrible and it is very disappointing yo not get what we expected and still spend as much money as we did just for two days of having a headache. It was my birthday weekend and I expected to relax and have a great experience but this wasn’t the case staying at the Marriot at 333 Adams St, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Would not recommend staying at this hotel to any one. It’s a great area but the customer service was terrible.
