Modern Midtowner with topnotch service, A-list amenities, and a home-away-from-home vibe
Designed by award-winning firm Jeffrey Beers International to evoke a luxurious pied-à-terre, the home-away-from-home vibe at this contemporary New York townhouse begins just off the lobby with the Den, a comfortable, clubby space stocked with books guests can borrow to curl up on the tufted sofas with. The public spaces are also scented with an exclusive fragrance created for the hotel by olfactive branding company 12:29 (other clients include Opening Ceremony and Lady Gaga). The 172 rooms and suites are decorated in blues and grays with velvet and leather upholstery, dark woods, and 1920s photos of performers at nearby Carnegie Hall, while large windows mean lots of light and views of Central Park, Times Square, or Midtown Manhattan. Splurge for a Terrace Suite and you’ll not only get a private balcony, but also a Sleep Studio bedding system with an adjustable mattress and turndown chocolates made especially to promote sleep. Breakfast, cocktails, and happy hour nibbles are all served on the 23rd-floor terrace, an indoor/outdoor guests-only space with sweeping views of the city (self-service alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are also available until 11 p.m.). The attaché concierges who are stationed in the lobby from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. know their stuff, so take advantage of their savvy and have them arrange daily itineraries, dining reservations, tickets to shows, and more.
