Perfect location

We were in Sydney for a few days and decided to stay at the Marriott
as it seemed to be in a good location. It provided us with easy access to everywhere we wanted to go. Went up to the Blue Mountains by simply catching a train from Circular Quay and swapping at Central station. Easy as. Decided to hire a car and travel up to the Central Coast for the day. Avis operate from the hotel. Booked it, walked down and got in. Drop off just as easy.

The worst Marriott I’ve ever stayed at

If you are only seeking location and convenience, then this Marriott is for you.

Anything else you expect from a 5 star hotel, please look elsewhere.

We booked a king bedroom for 2 people, but we couldn’t even get the hotel to provide 2 bottles of water per day. We were told each room gets only one bottle of water per day. Oh, and the staff must adhere to company policy so they can’t do anything. We didn’t actually get our free bottle during regular housekeeping until we called at night to check. Why would Marriott try to skimp on something so basic and cheap for its guests?

Housekeeping is next to nonexistent. They didn’t bother cleaning out trash or replacing towels. I don’t understand how this qualifies them as 5 star. This certainly does not live up to the Marriott standard.

We have 2 more nights here. Fingers crossed.

Best Marriott property in Sydney!

I'm sure you're reading review and trying to decide which Marriott property to stay at in Sydney. We stayed here for 5 nights and 4 nights at the Westin down the street, and the Marriott is so much better! The staff, the lounge, the location-Marriott wins hands down! It's also more family-friendly (indoor pool) and the lounge allows kids to enter all day long unlike the Westin.

I'm have titanium status with Marriott and we got an upgrade to a view of the opera house, which my daughter loved! The location is excellent, the ferries and train are less than a 5 minute walk away and will take you anywhere you want to go. The Opera House is super close as well. For great views, walk towards the Hyatt and you can see it from across the harbor.

I highly recommend this hotel for your Sydney stay, especially if you're traveling with kids!

Wasn't the best check in experience

We had an overnight flight from Bangkok, arrived at the hotel around 8am and tried to check in. The guaranteed check in time is 3pm, i am aware of that, so they asked my number and said they will give me a call as soon as when the room is ready. i waited till 2.30pm, no phone call no email, and so we went back to reception and spoke to this other lady asking if the room is ready, and yes it was, the luggage was in the room already, and i believe it's been ready for a while, but no one called us. very disappointing as we haven't had any sleep after 9 hours flight. the location is amazing, very close to sydney harbour, the room was very basic with one complimentary water bottle only. The older guy who helped us with luggage was amazing, too bad i forgot his name

great location

The Sydney Marriott has one of the best locations - close to the opera house, circular quay, the Rocks and Botanical Gardens. The room was comfortable and the service good. The executive lounge was spacious with evening 'snacks' nourishing enough for a dinner, decent wine, and a complete breakfast. The concierge was helpful. Overall the hotel is an excellent place to stay.
