A transforming hotel

It has been many years since I have stayed at this property and I am delighted to see the improvements.

The executive lounge is now incredible. Very spacious and one of my favourite Marriott Exec lounge teams. Maria is doing an incredible job in transforming the experience for guests in this part of the hotel and all team members that work there are incredible and enhanced the overall experience for me.

The other genuine change is in the lobby. Changing the lobby bar to Silvester’s restaurant and Three Bottle Man Bar has brought life back into this part of the hotel. Neil’s influence over the menu as head chef has been the change this hotel needed to make the restaurant a genuine dining location in a beautiful part of Sydney. Congratulations on being award a one chef hat for the restaurant.

Management do something about the reception experience. All interactions are so disappointing so I avoid at all cost and embrace the positives changes that have come into this Propery.

It is a mostly a great team trying incredibly hard to bring the Marriott value of the stay to the guest and the location is clearly one of the best in Sydney.

Loved the week long stay in Marriot Sydney.The checkin was excellent and I was given a great room as per my preference and explained well on all the facilities of the hotel.The hotel is walking distance from all the offices in the CBD and the Sydney Opera house.There are a number of bars and places to eat Including subway and Macdonald’s at a walking distance from the hotel.The Marriot elite lounge is good and has a great service.The timings for the lounge was till late evening and also the quiet and apt for people who want to work or relax in the evening sipping a glass of wine.The breakfast at the lounge was standard.The best was the view from the room which overlooked the Harbour and the Sydney Opera house.Overall a fantastic stay!!

We had a great stay we had a nice quick check in and they had champagne delivered to our room we had a room upgrade to a bridge view room bed was comfy and nice and quiet hotel is in a great location but we found the service was exceptional staff were pleasant and the breakfast as per Marriott standards was beautiful we loved our omelettes and the chef was always friendly an helpful we look forward to staying here again soon thanks for a wonderful stay

Great location, lovely room but disappointed again

We treated ourselves to a Junior Suite. The suite was lovely, and the view of the Opera House was great.
The accommodation package we chose included breakfast for two daily, valet parking, and a bottle of wine upon arrival. In the past, we had chosen a similar accommodation package, and also had issues in getting the bottle of wine. Again, the bottle of wine was not provided on arrival as stated and never appeared in our room. We followed up on this, and still, it did not arrive. This is not the first time this has happened. One of our suitcases never made it to our room and we had to chase this up.
Upon check-out, I mentioned this. Apart from apologising, and removing a charge for a coffee and tea that had been charged to the room, that was it.
For a Five Star Hotel, I expect a lot more. I shouldn't have to chase things up continually. The Marriott knows that a room has a specific package, then make sure your clients receive that.
Another sad experience to a beautiful weekend in Sydney to see Vivid.

Average hotel in good location

Stayed one night during VIVID. Booked a partial harbour room with 2x double beds for me and my teenage daughter. On checkin was given a King room - or if we wanted 2x beds (as I requested months ago) we could have a City-view room (with no suggestion of discount for 'lesser' room). I asked 'so no point making a request on your website when I book?' and the receptionist reminded me it was only 'subject to availability''.

Room was fine on high floor with view of harbour bridge (and construction site across the road). Bed was comfortable - but why, oh why, don't hotels provide top sheets any more?

Buffet breakfast was very average. Coffee was luke-warm, as was food. I ordered a poached egg from chef. He ruined the first one then said he'd bring to my table - he never did.

Completed their survey and received a nice response from Director of Rooms, but seriously, for $310, next time I'll spend a little more and go elsewhere.
