Foster + Partners created a contemporary architectural landmark with this sleek, double-towered building in Sydney’s tony Darling Harbour area. The hotel is located in the smaller 33-story tower overlooking St. Andrew’s Cathedral. Public areas include the lobby’s rainfall chandelier suspended from a silver leaf ceiling, and a cantilevered 164-foot pool over the triple-height entrance. The 201 guest rooms, ranging from studio suites to two-bedroom duplexes, have restrained, modern furnishings in browns and creams with pops of sunshine yellow. Most have minimal modern white kitchens with fridges, microwaves and laundry facilities. For those who don’t want to cook (you are on vacation), breakfast is served in a mezzanine lounge.
In the Area
Central Sydney is well placed for exploring Darling Harbour, a car-free zone lined with restaurants, bars, and stores. Other attractions include the city’s Sealife Aquarium, which recreates the Great Barrier Reef, as well as the Chinese Garden of Friendship – a good stop to escape the crowds — designed by Sydney’s sister city of Guangzhou. The area also neighbors Chinatown, another good spot for restaurants and gift shopping.
How to Get There
The hotel is in a good location but the room is ... dirty. My 1st visit in June 2019 - water in the shower is not hot & mouldy shower & shower head. I give some feedback to the front deskabout the room when check out. Give them another chance - 2nd visit in October 2019 - it's a tragedy. 1st room - hair on pillow & dirty shower floor. I informed the staff, they said they will send some one come to clean but don't know how long it will finish. I ask to change the room as it's Sunday the hotel is not fully book anyway. The staff bring us to the new room. The 2nd room journey begins - unbelievable. The worst room I ever have at the hotel - red stain and black mark on the carpet, mouldy shower in almost everywhere, dusty on the furniture (pillow case, bedroom side table, study desk, radio, even the wall), small few curly hair on bed, webbing under the fridge. How discussing it is!!! I don't know whether the hotel checked the room before handing the key to the guess or not. I inform the staff about the cleanness of the room before she left. The staff said to me - "IT IS WHAT IT IS." Umm... I send the email to management straight away. We left the hotel around 5 pm and got back around 10 pm. The hotel reservation manager and the duty manager is very responsive as they try to contact us about the room. When we got back they offer us to upgrade to the new room and late check out. The most important thing for us to stay at this hotel is cleanliness and comfort only. I hope the hotel have been improved.
For me works well as it is located across the road from the office and numerous locations for dinner or recreation nearby.
the room had a table, chair (for work) and rest seat so I was not confined to sitting on the bed watching TV
Excellent customer service! Our room was very neat , tidy and clean. The staff members made us feel welcome and nothing was an issue. Perfect location as well we could walk almost everywhere we needed to go.
