Overview

Sleek Foster + Partners-designed apartment hotel in Sydney’s bustling Darling Harbour neighborhood

The Lowdown

Foster + Partners created a contemporary architectural landmark with this sleek, double-towered building in Sydney’s tony Darling Harbour area. The hotel is located in the smaller 33-story tower overlooking St. Andrew’s Cathedral. Public areas include the lobby’s rainfall chandelier suspended from a silver leaf ceiling, and a cantilevered 164-foot pool over the triple-height entrance. The 201 guest rooms, ranging from studio suites to two-bedroom duplexes, have restrained, modern furnishings in browns and creams with pops of sunshine yellow. Most have minimal modern white kitchens with fridges, microwaves and laundry facilities. For those who don’t want to cook (you are on vacation), breakfast is served in a mezzanine lounge.

In the Area

Central Sydney is well placed for exploring Darling Harbour, a car-free zone lined with restaurants, bars, and stores. Other attractions include the city’s Sealife Aquarium, which recreates the Great Barrier Reef, as well as the Chinese Garden of Friendship – a good stop to escape the crowds — designed by Sydney’s sister city of Guangzhou. The area also neighbors Chinatown, another good spot for restaurants and gift shopping.

I have enjoyed my stay in fraser suite from my 10days there. Staffs are very friendly and always welcome you with a smile without fail. It is always nice to feel welcome after hard day at work. They do housekeeping everyday when needed and you can still have your privacy if you dont need it. Great place to stay.

Nice Suites - Great breakfast!
Reviewed 6 days ago

I enjoyed my 5 nights at Fraser Suites on a recent business trip. The suites are spacious and well appointed, the beds are really comfortable and the buffet breakfast is simple but actually really delicious. Ordered room service on two occasions and this was also really delicious and prompt! Service staff were excellent in accommodating all of my requests including an additional personal night that they were able to arrange keeping me in the same room so there was no disruption to my stay. I had only a couple of small frustrations and that was firstly that while there are plenty of mirrors in the room there are none that have usable power points near by, being in town on business and needing to blow dry and straighten my hair without a mirror was frustrating and resulted in me burning myself with my hair straightener. Second to this the one power point where I could sort of see myself in the bathroom mirror from the next room, stopped working and then the lamp in the bedroom also stopped working (I tested this power point also). Given that the furniture looked quite worn (hole in the couch, scratches all over the desk) maybe the rooms are just long over due for a bit of general maintenance. One of the nights I was there there was also heavy construction noise for half the night, I realise this is outside of the hotels control and not their fault but it would make me reconsider the location on another work trip as sleep is essential. Other than that I was happy with Fraser Suites and would stay there on business again.
