Tastiest food I’ve had in years.
Reviewed 5 days ago

We spent a weekend at this boutique hotel and loved it. The food from Paper Daisy, the on site restaurant, was spectacular. Over the 2 days we enjoyed most of the menu. The fish dishes were superb- Red Emporer, Groper and Snapper and the accompanying sides extremely tasty, the shaved carrot and ginger was my favourite. Of the entres I would recommend the Prawn Spagatini. The depth of flavour in the bisque sauce was to die for. Thank you to the wait staff, particularly Hannah and Alex. Their food and wine recommendations were flawless.

Peaceful and beautiful

We spent a lovely weekend here as an anniversary celebration. It’s a very peaceful and beautifully decorated retreat. The room was large and luxurious and the staff were extremely helpful. Paper Daisy provided spectacular and world class dining every meal. The only small gripe would be the spa, though also very peaceful and beautiful, didn’t provide as good a treatment service as hoped.

Sophisticated beach side accommodation

This was our second visit to Halcyon house, the first two years ago. The property is still extremely well maintained and presented, with the stylish interiors, and the addition of a large spa complex. There are some very nice extra touches, such as the welcome cookies, and the complimentary mini bar. The beds are good, although starting to sag a little. The service is attentive and professional, and the nightly turn down a rarity these days. The restaurant is going through a period of change and we felt that although the quality of the food was very good, it was definitely time for a refresh, and look forward to the new menu due in late April. Side dishes were underwhelming. The bar menu has been reduced and is now really only snacks which is disappointing if you are staying several nights and want to eat in house but not at the formal restaurant each time. We would also recommend some more sun loungers around the pool - although there are plenty for the quieter mid week, there are not enough on a fine day in the busy weekends. We had a lovely stay and will return, Halcyon house does remain really the best boutique luxury accommodation in this area.

Perfection

Every moment from the welcome, to the divine meals, fantastic wine recommendations and indulgent spa treatments made this a memorable stay for a special occasion.
It’s the little touches like the handwritten notes, bedtime cookie and poolside refreshments that ooze style

Worth the splurge

My partner and I stayed three nights at Halcyon, with one of those being our wedding night (we eloped in the hinterlands).
Halcyon House is absolutely stunning, and the service is second to none. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for the team! From posting our wedding dress and suits and party invites out as we were flying out to our honeymoon, to helping me get out of my dress at night, to Beku strumming the guitar poolside for ambience.
The restaurant was spectacular, from the decor to the food - we did breakfast every day and delighted in the fresh, local produce. And for our wedding night, we did a four-course degustation with matched wines that was so plentiful and delicious, we simply couldn't finish it all.
We also appreciated the special touches in our room like the fresh fruit on arrival, home made cookies on our last night, and a bottle of bubbles on our wedding night.
Highly recommend the day spa too, we treated ourselves to a massage one afternoon and it was heaven. And the morning yoga is a great way to start the day.

If you want to be spoiled, stay at Halcyon. It's absolutely worth the splurge. Flop and drop and spend your days lazing by the pool, then jumping into the ocean, and chilling out with a drink. Perfect.
