How to Get There
I travel often in and out of Santa Fe on business and pleasure and have stayed in many hotels over 20 years. The Inn at Vanessie has become my favorite place to stay. It is within walking distance (about 2 blocks) to the Plaza, it is a small, charming, unique, historic, adobe boutique hotel. Each room is different which I really like rather than staying in a typical, cookie cutter style hotel. (I have stayed in many of the rooms and have enjoyed them all) The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated in authentic Santa Fe style. The beds are very comfortable. I LOVE that they have working kiva fireplaces. I enter the room after a long day on the road and just feel "ahhhh" and immediately relax. The dining room/piano bar is a classy place to relax and enjoy a meal. And I really enjoy sitting in the lovely breakfast room in the morning and the food that is served is very good. (and if Joanna is working, she will take great care of you!) Thanks again Joanna for the TLC the morning I was not feeling well. I will always stay at the Inn at Vanessie whenever possible when in Santa Fe.
The Inn is a a great location... about 3 blocks from the historical area. It's a nice walk to get around the town. The rooms are lovely and spacious. I can't say enough about how great the free breakfast buffet was each morning. It was a great way to start our day.
We went to Santa Fe, NM and stayed at the Inn of Vanessie and it was awesome!!! The management crew was outstanding. Before traveling, I contacted Demetrie, the General Manager who took her time to assist me in finding the proper room for me and my family and she recommended the Navajo Room which was beautiful!!! The morning breakfast was wonderful, and our waitress Joann was absolutely the best!!!! Thank you so much Inn of Vanessie was making our stay one to remember.
This was a nice change of pace from the hotel chains off the highway on our long road trip. Billed as a boutique hotel, it has a small number of rooms. I think we had one of the smallest rooms and it was very spacious. The king size bed was wonderfully comfortable and the Italian-made sheets were special. Fireplace in our room, but we didn’t get a chance to use it. Beware of the resort fee. I hate resort fees because you are required to pay them and they are for things you should ordinarily get, or you’re paying for things you’re not interested in or using. We booked through a third party and were warned of the $10 resort fee. Total price was still acceptable so we booked. When we checked in, found out the resort fee was $30. Luckily I had my paperwork that showed $10 and that is what we were charged. Continental breakfast was better than the chain hotels off the highway: better juice, better pastries, better bacon, and served on real plates and real flatware, not plastic. One bothersome thing: very cold floor in the room. There is one area rug, but the floor is brick or tile that is very cold even with socks on.
I was really looking forward to staying there to celebrating my birthday. But, when I got there, they told us it was overbooked. So they switched us to a hotel that's less than half the price of their room and it was nothing like we expected. There wasn't even a bathtub. The front desk told us that this it's a common practice from Vanessie... So, beware of this if you tries to book with them. You might find yourself staying at a second rated hotel instead.
