How to Get There
This is a charming B&B located within a few minutes of the Santa Fe plaza. It has a great location as you can walk to most of the museums and attractions of the city. There are a lot of shopping and dining options.
Our room was big and spacious in typical Santa Fe style. The room needs some refurbishment. The mattress of the bed needs to be changed. The heating was also difficult to control. Otherwise, the place has a lot of character. Breakfast is included but there is not much options. There was bacon (cold) and scrambled eggs for both mornings. It would be nice if they offered made to order eggs.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Because of the location, this is a good value for the area.
Front desk staff is very friendly.
Location is excellent for walking to shops & galleries of town center.
The piano is a beautiful 9 foot Baldwin kept in good tuning and regulation. (This doesn't happen by accident. Somebody in management really cares about quality and art).
The rooms are appealingly decorated in great buckets of Santa Fe style.
I stayed at the Vanessie on a girls trip to Santa Fe last week and could not have chosen a better spot. It’s a great boutique hotel that has local charm and even has a restaurant within it. Very comfortable set up to the room, plenty of space and very clean.
When we got into town we decided to stay there at the hotel restaurant for dinner. They have a variety of food and live piano (the shrimp scampi was delicious). I would absolutely recommend staying here if you’re coming through Santa Fe!
The check in was quick until my family and I got up to the room and realized they failed to give us the foyer code. Once we finally got in the room I searched all over for a simple pen and paper to write the code down, no pen and paper in the room. Next, my daughter wanted to watch TV while I attempted to start a fire in the fireplace. Well, the TV wasn’t working and there was no wood in the room. So I decided to call guest services, again I searched for a phone in the room and no phone was found. So I used my cell phone to let them know what was going on, but no one answered so I tried to call again, finally I walked down to the front desk to talk to them in person. They said they would send someone up to bring wood and fix the TV. When we returned from dinner the TV still wasn’t working. So again I called guest services... no answer, I texted the after hours number that was provided..... no reply. Well here is my reply, I will not waste my time or my family’s time and money at this place ever again.
Vanessie has the ambiance of what one should expect from a Santa Fe hotel. It combines a traditional adobe-style exterior along with an internal décor reminiscent of Santa Fe's Hispanic and Native American history. It is centrally located and a short walk to Santa Fe's plaza and surrounding streets, where there are numerous restaurants, bars with entertainment, and shopping opportunities. Venessie's piano bar with its two wood-fired fire places and grand piano provided top-notch entertainment in a friendly atmosphere just a few steps from our room. The complimentary on-site parking provided a place to stash our car, while we explored Santa Fe on foot, and the included breakfast conveniently satisfied our early-morning hunger. We especially liked the personal service provided by Dimitra, the Inn Manager. She was exceptional, providing us with an excellent room (suite), a bundle of firewood for our en suite fireplace, and evening reservations at the Vanessie piano bar. She helped make our milestone birthday celebration special.
