How to Get There
Contemporary, clean property . Superb and friendly hotel staff. Great location. Highly recommend for business events. The Catering Manager was prompt and extremely professional while coordinating a last minute event.
We were looking forward to what we thought would be a somewhat luxe stay in an executive suite with access to the club level. Sadly, to say we were underwhelmed and very disappointed with the overpriced accommodations is an understatement. To be fair, the hotel staff we encountered throughout our visit were pleasant though we didn't bother to discuss our various issues with them as the volume was so great we knew there could not be a fix without a total remodel of the premises. Upon entering our room and using the bathroom we immediately noticed the plumbing was going to be quite an "interesting" feature. First, the sink drained soooooo slowly and then when it finally emptied there was a layer of sediment coating the basin. Not to be overly dramatic, but the bathtub was just really kinda gross. I'm unsure if it was just dirty or if the enamel or porcelain was in an advanced state of decay. Upon going to bed we found various stains on the bedding (double-yuck!) and then as we drifted off to sleep we were serenaded all night long by the sounds of toilets flushing in the rooms above us and beside us. The food offering in the club lounge was not up to the Marriott standards we expected, however, the ladies working on the club level were very nice. I def appreciated the espresso/machine on the club level. The espresso/cappucino machine was the high point of our stay at Sheraton Uptown.
This hotel is located in the most convenient place in ABQ and most accessible to all human being needs. But, I am not happy with their parking spaces, too narrow and short. I drive suv VW atlas and barely enough space left and right and even back.
I recently stayed at this hotel (end of March / early April) and it was fabulous! The staff was so energetic and helpful (Damen, Jeanette, Roy, Veronica C., Kimbra, Ivan, Sarah W.,Maricruz, Maddie). Always a smile on their face and ready to help! The hotel was clean and close to the best shopping and dining in ABQ! I totally recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Albuquerque. Great job everyone!
This hotel has some unrealized potential. First, the location is fantastic! You can’t be closer to the best shopping in Albuquerque, and there are really good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The Club level option is really worth it as you have a breakfast & dinner option built into your day, as well as water bottles and sodas to grab anytime. Being at dance competition here we found this to be a valuable convenience. And while the food isn’t gourmet it was fine, in particular they served a pot roast one night that was actually very good! This hotel could be a four star easily with some updating. The carpeting is in bad need of replacement. The bathrooms are all updated and nice, the beds and bedding were great, and the furniture in the rooms is fine. But the carpeting throughout the hotel puts a dent in one’s impression, and that’s sad because this property would be so much better if this was fixed. Also, Albuquerque and Santa Fe are known for their art scenes, and a lot of hotels in the area make an effort to reflect this in the art placed in their properties, but miso here. The art used here is not a reflection of Southwestern art, and I would recommend changing that. The indoor saltwater pool here is clean and was a comfortable temperature. Outside of that the pool area could definitely use some renovation, especially the hot tub. One last note, we booked through Expedia and got a club room with a special deal for breakfast coupons at the hotel restaurant. Expedia did not put the special deal on our confirmation, and at check in we were told we were only getting the club room breakfast. Calling Expedia did not help the situation- we bought a package that neither the property nor Expedia understood. It took two days of trying before the front desk finally understood and gave us the coupons. The breakfast buffet wasn’t the best we’ve ever had, but it was adequate and did taste good. The service was excellent, which is hard to find in this city! Every year at this time we come for competition, and we always choose between this hotel and the Andaluz. I wish the improvements mentioned above would happen. Uptown versus downtown is a safer place to stay in Albuquerque, and if this hotel realized it’s full potential we would choose it every year!
