Overview

Business traveler favorite in downtown Albuquerque, with a Southwestern restaurant and craft cocktail bar

The Lowdown

In downtown Albuquerque, just across the street from the Convention Center and near Central Avenue, the Hyatt Regency is a comfy base for business travelers and weekend trippers in Duke City. The 395 rooms and suites are uniformly spacious, with king or queen beds, work stations and simple tile bathrooms with over-tub showers and Portico amenities. All are done up in warm beige shades and many have mountain views. On the ground floor, Forque Kitchen and Bar is a favorite with guests and locals for its classic New Mexico fare like chimayo salmon, red quinoa with pepitas and agave glazed chicken, but also serves a simple breakfast menu from 6:30 am. There’s an in-house Starbucks for the morning caffeine hit and lounge-like HQue bar for after-hours craft cocktails and local microbrew beers. For fitness fanatics, the large gym is open round the clock, and there’s a seasonal outdoor pool with city views.

In the Area

It’s a quick walk to Albuquerque’s hippest neighborhood, EDo (East Downtown), which is home to several notable restaurants, including Grove Cafe & Market and Farina Pizzeria & Wine Bar. Albuquerque justly bills itself as the hot air ballooning capital of the world. Rainbow Ryders offers dawn and dusk rides high above the city and the Rio Grande Valley. America’s fabled “Mother Road,” Old Route 66, cuts a swath through the city. The best neighborhood for offbeat shopping, hip dining and cool nightlife is Nob Hill, a 10-minute drive east of the hotel. Head to the tasting room of the city’s Gruet Winery, whose champagne-style sparkling wines now appear at some of the nation’s top restaurants.

Just O.K. stay

This was my first experience at The Hyatt Regency, and I would say its average at best.Service is really lacking. They give you a # to text for anything you need.We texted a few times, and had to call regarding cleaning the room.We had asked them to change the sheets, because they were dirty(when we arrived). The cleaning lady came, took off the sheets and never came back.My husband asked the cleaning lady in the hall if she was coming back, and she said"its not my job".When I called the front desk,he said, there are several housekeepers on your floor.Eventually they had someone come in,change the sheets. But the room has alot of wear and tear,I don't think it represents what Hyatt calls higher end brand. The restaurant downstairs, was o.k.,also ,not great. Most of the people that work at the front desk are nice, gave us a good recommendation for dinner downtown. This area doesnt have much around there,so we took Uber to Old Town.Valet personnel were good also.I did ask for some help when checking out,to make a reservation at the Hyatt at the Airport. They told me they couldnt make the reservation because there 2 different brands?I know when I stay at Ritz Carlton/or Marriotts,I can use my points at either.Hyatts that I stayed with in New Mexico(several),werent as clean, when I'm paying for a hotel,I expect more than what we got here.

Disapointing...or...is that Hyatt?

This Hyatt branded hotel is just a place to sleep in and period. Behind a lay of courtesy and correction( something that is obviously expected and, hence, not to be rated except if it is bad) there are no services included at the level as, at least me, expected.
If you need something when in your room " Please text us ". Restaurant is not especially good, and you are recommended to have your dinner somewhere else.
The air conditioning system is incredibly noisy. I asked to have my car ready in half an hour time and asked kindly for some help with my lugagge, three suitcases. Neither anyone came nor my car was ready 40 mnts later.
Let us do not fall in the "quality/price" ratio. That is part of the low cost world in which no cost is low and any price paid mitigates the lack of service and the lack of training of personnel. I paid what they asked me to pay. I received an "under average service" considering I was under the Hyatt shed.
Nothing special, not bad, not good not to expect anything. Probably they are happy in a low cost world and in a quality/price world. Not for me.

Great place conveniently located downtown by the convention center, walking distance from restaurants, bars, music venues.
Valet parking makes it super convenient. Place is clean quiet and super comfortable.

The staff was extremely professional helpful and friendly . Made us feel like we were the only ones they were taking care of. Such a wonderful experience I would recommend this hotel to anyone needing a conference hall or wedding.

Great stay for my bodybuilding competition!

Best hotel in the area for the price hands down. Everything is always on point. Great room service and the food is really good. Nice and clean as well. Requested a fridge and microwave and they brought it up promptly. Vallet always has my vehicle waiting when I got down.
