How to Get There
The hotel old and not kept up. They are starting to remodel .. Should never of gotten this bad. The first room they gave us the door would not even open. They had to give me another room. The next room ... the wall paper was peeling off there was a large crack in the ceiling above the bed. Room just did not look like they took care of it at all I just felt dirty. When I pulled down the covers to go to bed I found a pretty good stain on the sheets. When I requested the bed be changed the gentle man from house keeping brought up sheets and proceeded to hand them to me. I had task to have them put them on for me. He sent someone else to change the bed.
I tried their buffet at 1:00 p.m. and was happy their breakfast fare was still available. I craved clam chowder, but theirs had no clam flavor and was quite bland. The pork chops were delicious. The curry they offered had no curry flavor and the meat was too tough to chew. I'll not return to their buffet.
First time to have a bad hotel experience here, stayed Saturday night, Oct 13th. Hotel manager that evening didn't seem to care. Yelling, screaming room next door. Checked into room about 2pm. Neighbors loud, seemed to be party watching sports. Figured no big deal for now. Left room and returned @7pm... Still loud, could hear room on the otherside of loud room pounding on wall. Come 9pm called front desk twice. Finally security went to the loud room where we could hear the response of "F*** the neighbors!" Heard the security guard say to the effect of: OK, hope your team wins. It got louder... Called front desk again, plead for action and said my next call will have to be to a manager. She tersely responded "I am the Manager." Security returned and told loud room they would be evicted if not quiet. Now 10pm or so, it got quiet. Was very disappointed with this stay, may concider Harrah's next time.
I stayed three nights in July 2018. At that time of year air conditioning is a high priority, and it worked great in the room. It's worth a small fee to upgrade to a room on a higher floor; it was deadly quiet at night, and great for sleeping. And the view out the window was pleasant.
The hotel connects with two others, and you can visit all three without going outside. In Reno that's important, because it was hot outside, and downtown Reno is populated by some unsavory characters. But between the three hotels, it's easy to find a restaurant and/or bar that meets your requirements. I had breakfast at the hotel's coffee shop one morning, and it was better than expected.
The hotel is two blocks from the city bus terminal, and Reno has an excellent public transportation system., It's cheap, its convenient, and an economical way of getting to the airport.
I would definitely stay at the Silver Legacy again should I return to Reno.
The room was exceptionally clean with a fantastic view. The staff was great and knowledgeable. The down side to this review was a "TERRIBLE" meal at "ROXY". No fault of Silver Legacy, but since Silver Legacy, Circus Circus and El Dorado are all part of "The Row" as it is known, in the El Dorado portion, is a restaurant called "ROXY". Out of 9 dinner guests in our party, 6 of us were very disappointed with our meals. Tough meat, lack of flavor, way too salty were just some of the comments. Don't waste your money at the "ROXY". Over priced, slow service and lack of flavor. Again, not to take away from the "Silver Legacy", they were terrific, but the "ROXY" was a huge disappointment.
