Taking the train from Sacramento to Reno is a must do.

A simple walk to the El Dorado Casino from the train Depot.. The ride on the train is comfortable and great sights along the way especially over Donner Summit and along the Truckee River.. This is something to have as a holiday gift or bucket list. Rooms at the El Dorado are comfortable and the La Stada restaurant is half off if you see a show and is well worth the price.

Rooms are super outdated.

With so many other hotel options downtown, do yourself a favor and stay at any of them except for El Dorado. The room was so outdated! I'm a local so I frequent the downtown area a lot. With other aspects of the casino I expected better. I don't think the rooms have been updated since the hotel was built (at least the room we stayed in, 517). It even smelled old and musty. Positives are it did have a mini fridge and decent wifi. There's some good food and good bars/clubs, but don't stay the night here.

Highly recommended

We stayed two nights and the rooms here are very nice. Hotel is family freindly. Kids enjoyed the arcade, circus shows and riding the tram to the main casino from the room. The facilities were clean (except the food court tables could be cleaned more frequently) and all the employees were friendly and helpful. I wish they had more non-smoking areas. My state has smoking laws in public areas and I realize how fortunate I am!

Loved the variety of food options. My son loved the arcade. The rooms are resonably priced. Very easy to get to from airport.

Would highly recommend to anyone. Loved El Jeffe thought The Buffet was over priced. If you like sea food my be worth it.

Average casino hotel
Reviewed 1 week ago

I came up on the train with a friend. This hotel was close to Amtrak station, so we stayed here. A new trend, which I hate, is a low advertised price, then a $28.30 “resort fee” added on. This is in no way a resort. It is a casino with average hotel rooms. When I asked if they had a hot tub or spa, they said they did but it was closed for the winter. Come on folks, just say the room is $90, not $51.70 , oh and add the resort fee.

Rooms were average if a bit dated. Not much else to say.
