Comfy, cliffside resort in Negril with a sublime swim-up bar, poolside hammocks and a spa
In a bright tropical garden next to cliffs that rise above the Caribbean, this intimate resort features spacious, comfortable spaces with tons of outdoor spots and water-view verandas. The vast sea is framed from every window — this is one of the westernmost point in Jamaica, and not much gets in the way of those sparkling views.
Bed and Bath
Choose the accommodation that fits, from standard rooms to suites, all cheerfully decorated in updated Caribbean style with plantation-style furnishings, island-themed art and plenty of comfortable seating indoors and out. The 22 guestrooms are equipped with convenient amenities like flatscreen TVs and WiFi, while suites come with verandas that have their own Jacuzzis. But no matter which room you chose, the friendly staff at Moon Dance goes the distance.
One restaurant and two bars offer casual or fine dining all day long, but the shaded swim-up pool bar is a popular daytime spot for cocktails and snacks. Of course, Negril is the center for sundowners, and sunset rum punch in one of the resort’s outdoor spaces is de rigueur. In terms of activities, it’s almost like tropical summer camp here, with swimming in the waterfall pool, cliff diving, Ping-Pong, pool basketball, tennis and snorkeling. Head to the sports bar for Wii games, dartboards and a putting green.
In the Area
There is plenty to do in Negril beyond the resort. Check out Alfred’s Ocean Palace, where you’ll find live music every night, with excellent live reggae Sunday, Tuesday and Friday. The cuisine is fresh Caribbean seafood, and the vibe is just plain cool. Spot history at the Negril Point Lighthouse; built in 1894, it affords breathtaking views of the coast. The Negril Hills Golf Club also has beautiful landscapes and views of the Caribbean blue.
