Set in lush gardens in New Delhi’s colonial heart, Shangri-La’s Eros Hotel is a fancy five-star retreat with an outdoor pool and a sublime spa. The lobby makes for a grand entrance with its cool marble floor, impressive chandeliers and huge artworks, and the mammoth flower arrangements are a talking point. Most of the 320 guestrooms overlook the city’s diplomatic district and feature dark wood furnishings, rich fabrics, thick carpets and chunky leather-look headboards. Flat-screen TVs, pillow menus, free WiFi and tea- and coffee-making facilities come standard. Hit the spa for a holistic massage or to relax in the Jacuzzi or steam room. On the dining front, Cafe Uno serves local (and Western) dishes on a terrace overlooking the pool, and Uno2Go is a chic patisserie. The Island Bar is open till 1 a.m. and offers a fine selection of whiskies and cigars.
In the Area
Visit the Qutb Minar at sunset to watch the light change on this intriguing 13th-century tower. The concierge can help you book a trip to Old Delhi, where you can take in the ancient spice market. It’s not a particularly calming experience, but it’s fascinating and totally worth it. Stop by Karim’s, also in Old Delhi, for its famed kebabs and other North Indian specialties. The Qawwali (Sufi devotional) singers perform twice daily in the courtyard of the Nizamuddin Dargah — a lovely way to hear traditional music. Most guides will recommend a visit to Humayun’s Tomb; if you have time, pair it with a trip to the simpler Safdarjung’s Tomb. Include a walk around Lodi Gardens, just down the road.
How to Get There
The stay was excellent and location very convenient to get around Delhi usually by way of Uber. Food options and quality of the dining were fantastic. The only criticism I have are the towels; for such a high end hotel they felt very old and used.
I was here fir 2 nights and the stay was very comfortable, room was very need abd clean. When every i come to delhi i stay only in shangrila Delhi. Thanks Ms.Nawang for the quick and smooth check in. Will come back soon
We stayed in room 1102 for 3 nights. Beds were lovely and comfortable, room was just as website showed. We had dinner in sorrentos and Tamra, both meals were good with great service. The wow factor for me was the breakfasts. They had the widest variety of foods anyone could want and was I loved trying the breakfasts from around the world. Really enjoyable stay.
