Sexy, sceney resort-within-a-megaresort on the beaches of Paradise Island
When the guy next to you on the plane reveals he’s headed to the Bahamas for a pre-bachelor party weekend with the boys, don’t be surprised when you next see him and his buddies checking in at The Cove Atlantis, an Autograph Collection's soaring, Jeffrey Beers-designed indoor-outdoor lobby. But while many guests are here for a bromantic offshore weekend or a carefree girlfriend getaway, you’ll also spot cool young families. The resort-within-a-resort sits on the edge of family-friendly Atlantis, making it a sophisticated choice for parents whose kids might demand instant water park access and dolphin-side swims, but who prefer for themselves clean-lined, loft-like suites.
Bed & Bath
The exclusive 22-story, 600-suite resort has made beachside indulgence its raison d’être. Every room, each at least 670 square feet, opens onto an ocean-facing balcony, and they all feature King or Queen beds positioned over sunken living areas, and huge spa-like bathrooms with double granite vanities, glass-walled showers and deep soaking tubs.
The one area that’s off limits to youngsters is Cain at The Cove, the adults-only "ultrapool" and beach club reserved exclusively for guests of the hotel. Here, DJs from New York, Miami and beyond spin pop, dance and chill-out tracks, the daybeds and butler-serviced cabanas fill up fast, and the women find that the best way to complete a bikini look is with a pair of stilettos. Expert dealers oversee outdoor gaming tables — a satellite of the 60,000-square-foot casino in the Atlantis main building — and the beach and ocean sit just beyond. After Cain closes, it’s on to tapas at the newly redone SeaGlass lounge. Over at Atlantis, meanwhile, there’s rock shrimp at Nobu, big bets in the casino’s high-limit zone and late nights at the nightclub, Aura. All of which makes for a certain Vegas-meets-South-Beach, “What happens at The Cove stays at The Cove” vibe.
In the Area
The resort offers a lengthy list of activities to keep guests busy on land and sea. Charter a boat for the day from International Yacht Collection, located at the dock master’s office in the Atlantis marina, and explore the surrounding sea and islands or hit the water with an aquatic encounter with rescued dolphins at Atlantis Dolphin Cay. Get beach-ready with a session with fitness guru Mikhail Barnett at the Mandara Spa Fitness Center, then shop for a new ensemble at Escape, The Cove’s on-site resortwear boutique. When you’re ready to relax, book a treatment at Atlantis Balinese-style Mandara Spa (we like the deep tissue massage).
