How to Get There
Incredible rooms, service, food and pool. The free bikes were so much fun for an early morning ride. Why would you bother even pursuing another location. It’s all you could ever wish for! Thank you so much!!!
The Hotel Yountville is a relaxing, romantic place to stay when in this part of Napa.
We enjoyed our room, which had high ceilings and a supremely comfortable bed; there was a small balcony, but it looked out over a parking lot, so we only sat there one morning to read the paper. The hotel placed complimentary treats, chocolates and dried fruit in the room, a nice touch; and there was a small refrigerator.
One oddity was a bathtub in the bedroom, rather than in the bathroom. Since it was a cool claw-foot tub with a rack (good for balancing an iPad, to watch Netflix and bathe), it was still appreciated; however, bathing in the main room -- with AC blowing -- was a bit chilly; and possibly awkward, depending on one's traveling partner(s).
For this and other reasons, this hotel does seem to attract mostly couples on romantic trips, rather than families with small children.
One favorite part of the stay was the use of free hotel bicycles; try to grab them early. Many guests seemed to use the bikes just around town; but if you like to ride, it's worth it to explore a bit further; we rode to several wineries, including Cliff Lede -- by the Silverado Trail -- with a fun rock music theme. Just be aware, you'll be on busy roads, so stick to the shoulder (single file).
The best feature of the hotel is the pretty pool area; again, with an adult vibe; the days we stayed, we saw mostly couples and a few teens, but no kids.
One overlooked feature of the hotel is the on-site restaurant, hidden away by the pool; we had a surprisingly delicious breakfast one day, with all local ingredients; incredible fruit, butter, etc. Small details like that make a difference; whoever's running that kitchen really cares.
The free "continental" breakfast in the hotel lobby is also nice, with pastries from Bouchon, fruit, yogurt and granola; just be sure you know what time it ends, as we arrived at 9:10am one morning, to discover breakfast had ended ten minutes earlier.
Some other offbeat wineries to visit are the Hess Collection for its art gallery (although it's a bit of a drive from Yountville); Raymond also has a campy, theatrical vibe and a sweet little garden complete with goats and chickens.
Altogether a lovely trip. We hope to stay again.
This hotel is glorious, with lovely service, terrific style, wonderful surroundings. Our room was so beautiful, and lunch at the Heritage Oak patio was so relaxing. Everything about our stay was perfect.
