Welcome to Napa Valley’s own Ivy League. Tucked behind the crawling vines covering the buildings of Saint Helena’s Main Street and the tracks of the Napa wine train, Southbridge makes an ideal base for exploring the valley and the historic hamlet that serves as its hub. The hotel building is quite modern, though the crawling ivy and lushly landscaped courtyard help it fit in amid its distinguished and long-tenured neighbors, such as Merryvale Winery, which was the first Napa Valley vineyard to be opened after the repeal of Prohibition. Tucked on the second floor, the rooms all have vaulted ceilings, fireplaces, king beds with down comforters and Juliette balconies. Although there is no on-site restaurant, there’s a daily free breakfast of freshly baked pastries, seasonal fruits and locally roasted coffee.
In the Area
Enjoy free access to the pool, eucalyptus steam room and fitness center at Health Spa Napa Valley. And be sure to ask Southbridge staff to book a rejuvenating treatment package for you. The name Tra Vigne means “among the vines” in Italian, and the landmark ivy-covered building looks the part. The elegant dining room serves up Italian fare prepared with fresh local ingredients. The one-screen theater on Main Street has that Old Hollywood glam feel and shows a mix of current releases and art house films. Pair steaks at Press with some of the big reds from the all-Napa wine list, which features some rare and interesting local bottles. Or, whip up your own gourmet meal alongside the expert chef-instructors at The Culinary Institute of America right up the road.
How to Get There
First the good news. Location is awesome the place looks nice, and the room is a nice-looking room. And the bed was comfortable. Now the less good news, the breakfast was extremely disappointing, they didn't finish remodeling the rooms as a bathroom is pretty antiquated, the hallways are not kept at a comfortable temperature. At that price they need to do a lot better. We normally stay at Senza and considering the prices are similar this place is nowhere near what they provide there you're falling in love
Our room was spacious. We particularly enjoyed having a fireplace. The location is wonderful, within walking distance to downtown St. Helena. The staff was welcoming and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
What a wonderful hotel in St Helena! We stayed in a small suite....room 6 and it was delightful. Large and airy with French doors opening to a beautiful green view! Great continental breakfast that came with. I would definitely recommend this property.
