The Lowdown

“Mykonos” brings to mind images of gorgeous landscapes and warm Greek hospitality, and you’ll certainly find both at the delightful, family-run Yakinthos Residence. Whitewashed walls, natural materials and a sprinkling of love all blend to create an utterly charming retreat. The 12 apartments and studios share an idyllic swimming pool with uninterrupted views of the deep blue waters of the bay, and surrounded by secluded hillside, you’ll have only the sounds of the odd goat or seabird to disturb the peace.
With a lovely location overlooking Panormos Bay, this hotel is conveniently situated near one of the island’s prettiest and most unspoiled beaches. Despite Mykonos’ reputation as “the island that never sleeps,” this intimate residence guarantees rest and relaxation, but that famous nightlife is within easy reach, so you can mix with the glitterati and join the party as much or as little as you wish. Your studio apartment is a welcoming haven to return to, with its quintessentially Greek white walls, simple furniture and all-important sea view.

Your simple, white studio apartment has its own individual terrace overlooking the pool and the sea beyond – a great place to escape the heat of the day. There’s a fully equipped kitchenette with a fridge, plus a spacious living area with sofa and dining table.
Amenities- Wi-Fi access- Flat-screen LED TV- Air conditioning- Hair dryer- Iron and ironing board

Breakfast is a fresh and tasty combo of Greek delicacies, served in the comfort of your room each morning, between 9 and 11am. If hunger strikes at other times of the day, the room-service menu is available until 6pm. For self-catering, there’s a well-stocked local supermarket, and your host will also give you tips on where to buy Greek goodies to take home.

Yakinthos Residence is in the northwest portion of Mykonos, overlooking stunning Panormos Bay. The unspoiled Panormos beach lies a five-minute walk down the hill and boasts a long stretch of white sand and clear blue waters. Ramp up the pace by driving 15 minutes or so to Elia and Super Paradise beaches, both great for people-watching. You can spend a peaceful evening dining under the stars at home, or take a 10-minute car or motorbike ride to Mykonos town, where the party never stops.

I’m reviewing the Yakinthos Residence from the comfort of the Yakinthos Residence...
This is a truly wonderful place and we’ve rarely experienced such hospitality.
Christos has organised everything for us. It’s like having a personal concierge service, and it’s truly made a difference.

The location is stunning, with views to match, and with our hire car it’s been easy to explore Mykonos, with its amazing beaches and vibrant town. The boat trip to Delos was the best! Fascinating, sacred home of the Gods.

The local taverna is really good, and the owner is very friendly. The catch of the day - red snapper - was particularly delicious.
We intend to go back there tonight.

I simply can’t fault this place. Christos and his family have been amazing hosts. Our best Greek island holiday yet - and that’s down to the Yakinthos Residence.

A big thank you from Steve and Christopher...and it’s not over just yet; I’m sure we will continue to enjoy our time here until we fly back to the UK on Sunday.

Wonderful late summer laziness!

Our first visit to Mykonos. Yakinthos Residence was a perfect setting for a relaxing week and a great base for exploring the island - nowhere was more than a 20 minute drive - although Yakinthos is located next to the two best beaches on the island - Panormos (just down the hill form Yakinthos) and Agios Sostis (two minutes drive further down the road). You really must have a car, motorbike or quad bike here. Book one in advance and save on taxis (pretty much €20 to go anywhere).
Yakinthos is very peacefully located and Christos a great host. Breakfast delivered to your room at a time to suit you is a real treat and more than enough choice and quantity for most unless you yearn for a massive 'full English' breakfast (in which case you are probably on the wrong holiday!).
The apartment was spacious and spotlessly clean. The friendly team there did a great job with house-keeping.
The place was about 50% full (there are only 12 rooms) so never felt busy at all and I wouldn't imagine this changing even when at maximum occupancy. There were plenty of loungers around the pool though never more than two or three couples at any time. The background music remained the same each day until we suggested it be varied. To be honest we probably would have preferred no music but it did add to the chilled atmosphere and wasn't overly intrusive.
A limited though adequate lunch menu was available though mostly we ate out or brought in food from the local supermarket.
Overall it's difficult to fault Yakinthos for a relaxed break in a peaceful location whilst only 15 minutes from the bustle of Mykonos town. Thanks Christos!

Amazing residence to stay in Mykonos !

Yakinthos is located in Panormos, the new place to be area of Mykonos island. It i a very quiet area although its only 7km from Mykonos old port & city (about 10-15 min). Perfect for couples or families looking for rest but not too far from beaches/restaurant & animated places. Its i actually in between equal distance from the most beautiful beaches of Mykonos (Elia & Super Paradise). You can also walk from the residence directly to Panormos beach. The view is amazing from any room you would get as they are all facing the sea. Apartments are very clean and decorated with taste, isolation is also perfect from next door room. The breakfast is served directly in your room (or patio as you wish) and you can choose yourselves in advance what you want to eat. There is always a Greek touch anyway :-) Just let yourself go as soon as you get out from the plane. All will be organised and the host Kristos will give you the necessary tips for the best island's spots to visit, eat, lay down on beaches, have drinks or dance crazy all night out !

Small, homely environment with first class service

As visiting mid September (out of season) we were upgraded to a one bedroom superior apartment on the first floor, which consisted of a spacious bedroom with plenty of storage, studio lounge, kitchen with oven and fridge etc, basic bathroom and balcony with wonderful views of the mountain and sea. Well maintained gardens and communal areas, spotlessly clean room with crisp bedding, fluffy towels and cleaned to a high standard each day by the maids. Christos was the perfect host and kindly provided a free transfer service and also arranged hire car for us, (a necessity to access Mykonos town and plentiful beaches all within a short 15-20 min drive away). Unfortunately, the swimming pool which looked so gorgeous and blue and inviting in the pictures was not in use for the first couple of days, due to issues with lack of water in the area, and when it did open, the water quality and colour was not 100%, which was disappointing, but couldn't be helped. Breakfast was adequate and brought to the room each morning at a set time starting from 9am, which was a little later than we would have personally preferred. The residence has a homely and personal feel to it and all the staff, especially Christos, provided a first class service, thank you! Thank you too for the complementary bottle of pink fizzy left in our room, that was a most welcomed surprise :) It was our first visit to Mykonos and the wind at times was extremely strong, which is not uncommon we were told. This resulted in some noise at night due to the weather, which again, can't be helped, there's no double glazing like at home so the quality of sleep may be affected. However, do bear the windy conditions in mind if undertaking any sailing trips - our semi private yacht 7hr day trip to Delos on 18 September was certainly a trip I will not forgot in a hurry....the waves on the return journey were HUGE and not for the faint hearted (the public boats were not sailing due to the weather which gives you some idea of the conditions we experienced!!! Sea sickness tablets advisable!) All in all a very pleasant quiet stay in a homely and welcoming environment with wonderful staff, and good value for money, considering Mykonos' high prices.
