How to Get There
Turkey is a difficult place right now so hotels are forced to cater to markets that perhaps are not the best fit. I assume this is the issue with some top the comments. The design, location is absolutely incredible. The rooms are flawless, the terraces SPECTACULAR. No other hotel in Turkey offers the variety of F&B offered here. Top notch facilities all around including gym etc. I would give it a shot for sure. pd. Wifi connection and password is a little painful.
It was supposed to be a 5 star hotel but it was not no privacy in the rooms. The food was terrible for breakfast. They catered for the Germans. Only saving grace was the maids they were brilliant the staff was friendly. The entrainment was terrible would never go back again.
This was our first time at D Maris and we loved loved loved everything about our stay. We came to celebrate a special occasion and we could have not chosen a better place to do so! We were a bit anxious having read some of the negative reviews on here, but the stay exceeded our expectations in every way and we literally cannot wait for the hotel to reopen next year and come back!
The property itself is stunning - the beaches, the views are just breath-taking and will make you feel like you're on a remote island in the Indian ocean, far away from civilization. Despite being a huge property (with its own cable car system helping carry you from your room to the beach), you don't feel overwhelmed by the crowds even for a bit. We also went towards the end of the season, in mid-October, but hotel occupancy was more than 50% which I thought was surprising and the weather was sublime (despite the occasional showers).
Restaurants are top-notch. Zuma in my opinion is in a league of its own, you just can't go wrong with anything there and the food is simply scrumptious. Manos was a great surprise too - looks like your typical seafood restaurant until staff start smashing plates and turn the evening into a crazy party - fantastic experience. The Terrace - where you have your breakfast - is also good with its ample food selection and even a healthy station though it does feel crowded and service does feel a bit slower there than elsewhere.
A couple words about the service. We generally felt that we have been attended to with great care and attention, and not a single request of ours was ever turned down (and we had some crazy ones like take-away ice bucket and champagne glasses for our road trip back home). What was surprising was that for such a huge property which apparently employs up to 500-600 staff during its peak times, everything runs very smoothly, like a really well-oiled machine. So kudos to staff for pulling this off, especially only 2 days short of hotel closure.
Rooms were great as well. We did get an upgrade to a fantastic deluxe sea view room with a stunning view over the silent beach, which I thought was perfect size for a couple. Our original reservation was for a classic room and come to think about it, that probably would feel too small for us. There were no issues with room service whatsoever, and each time we asked for ice, turndown service etc, we got everything on time.
Overall the hotel is stunning and offers a unique and high-quality experience. Yes it is pricey and you can probably find much better deals for a vacation in Turkey, but I honestly doubt that they will give you the same experience that D Maris will. With its spectacular opulence, huge selection of beaches, top-quality restaurants and stunning views, this hotel does stand out among many that I've seen not only in Turkey but across the world. I definitely cannot wait to come back here next year!
We visited this stunning place back in September. When we arrived a very nice reception lady welcomed us already when we got off the car. After we enjoyed the welcome drink and refreshment towels we were told that our room as not ready yet, but no Problem at all, as we wanted to have lunch anyway. So the reception lady showed us around and recommended the Turkish Restaurant at the beach. We went down to the beach and had a fantastic lunch at the Rüya restarant. Excellent Food and extremely nice service. Then we could check in and have our room ready. In General I would say this is the best Hotel in whole Turkey. Great Restaurants (except for the La Guerite, we felt that this was quite a rip off for what we got). We would like to give a Special thanks to the lovely Person who guides you to your sunbed at the main beach, we unfortunately forgot the Name but this guy was just great! In general all service People were extremely friendly and helpful, they are clearly going the extra mile for the customer. Also the WhatsApp service number is very good and supportive. We will definetly come back! Ah.. and don't forget to have dinner at ZUMA!
We stayed in the hotel between 28th and 30th. On the night of the 29th we were extremely disappointed and disturbed by the private organization of a group where there was a garden party with heavy sound and music until 3 in the morning making sleeping impossible. The reception neglected the problem, said it was not related to them and did not offer a solution. Disregarding the comfort of their guests for a special event for some revenue is something totally unacceptable of such a hotel, showing that they do not deserve the brand value and reputation they are claiming to have.
