On a hillside above the Bodrum Peninsula’s chichi North Shore, this chic boutique is the brainchild of imaginative Turkish-Canadian owners Ali and Esra. An unfailingly congenial atmosphere pervades this attractive complex of low-rise buildings, and the views stretch across citrus groves to the bright lights of Yalikavak and the Aegean Sea. The 20 guestrooms are split into four categories: Casual (with a mini–sitting area and a shared terrace); Functional (great for families, with two adjoining rooms and two bathrooms); Passionate (with a sea-view balcony and a wood-burning fireplace); and Junior Suite (a spacious open-plan layout with a common terrace). They’re all bright and stylish and barely a skip from the 25-meter pool, where you’ll find loungers and attentive staff aplenty. Dine alfresco on local seafood and tapas-style mezzes; the mucver (zucchini fritters) are a particular highlight. Join a yoga session in the verdant garden, where the wellness masseur works his magic. With all this on-site, there’s really no reason to stir, but trad/mod Yalikavak, a fishing-village-meets-mega-marina lined with boutiques and bars, is just a half-hour stroll away, the same amount of time it takes to reach Bodrum by car.
In the Area
After the high summer season, once the coast road has unclogged, venture west to Gumusluk’s quaint waterside tavernas or east to shiny-glam Turkbuku, home to legendary party venues like Macakizi. Make a day of it and immerse yourself in ancient ruins at Euromos (75 minutes) or Stratonikeia (90 minutes), or check out Bodrum’s own ancient wonder, the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus. Hire a boat to reach the peninsula’s quieter bays, or browse Bodrum’s bustling market for “genuine fake” accessories or hand-made leather sandals.
How to Get There
We've just returned from a week at 4reasons, and cannot recommend it highly enough.
As our trip was slightly out of season for the resort (regardless of it being half term back home), the hotel was really quiet (and ultra-peaceful). As a result, we were lucky enough to be upgraded from the standard room we booked to a room with the most incredible views. The room was spacious and impeccably clean with fresh towels daily. Pool towels were also provided.
We spent most of our days by the pool with wall-to-wall sunshine. The breakfast and lunch were incredible - and the service was understated yet attentive. The guys honestly couldn't have done more for us - or been more polite. They were on hand around the clock to ensure our stay was as relaxing as it possibly could be.
Ali at reception was a fountain of local knowledge and directed us to the most incredible local restaurants in line with our budget. I would probably say breakfast and lunch are best served in the hotel, but it's absolutely worth venturing out to taste the local cuisine for dinner. Barboom was exceptional (though at a premium compared with local prices) and Yali Kiyi Balik (within walking distance from the hotel) combined fantastic service, beautiful sunsets and excellent seafood.
We'd like to extend a massive 'thank you' to the entire team at 4reasons for such an amazing holiday - we will certainly be back in the very near future (breakfast and the views from my office in London are seriously underwhelming as I write this)!
I went with 3 girlfriends, we took over a functional suite, which has the added advantage of 2 bathrooms. What can I say, we loved every minute. The hotel is a little oasis, the pool is large, the food is delicious and they'll bring it to the poolside. The mature gardens are divine, the staff are great, Ali the manager, well we loved him and dear Irfan at our beck and call. Yes there some construction, but it didn't bother us, and if you need to go anywhere you can taxi-it for a very reasonable amount.
We didn't even get to the beach, the hotel was so wonderful. It is the perfect spot to come with girlfriends, or mother and daughter trips. There were no kids around the pool (thank goodness) and it was pretty quiet. The sunsets were awesome and one of my friends and I wondered 'is this what heaven is like?'
We enjoyed a trip to the village textile market (cheaper than in Bodrum) and designer shopping (excellent copies) in Bodrum. And you must go to the restaurant LIMON. Brilliant we went twice.
It was SO fantastic we are booking for next year but longer.
Can't recommend it enough.
I have been returning to 4 Reasons for the last 7 years and every year it improves. From the friendly welcome received on arrival to the delicious meals that are served with care and attention - it has never disappointed.
4 Reasons gives me everything that I want from my holiday. I spend my days lying by the pool, reading and re-energising and in the evenings if I want to go out for a meal then a taxi is waiting for me within minutes of asking. The staff are attentive yet discreet and the management Ali & Ahmet are wonderful hosts (they're beyond management), nothing is too much trouble and if I'm not sure where I want to go they will recommend a place that they think is suitable for me and book it. I've yet to be disappointed with their choices of venues.
4 Reasons, as described in so many other reviews, is ridiculously stunning! After 7 years it still amazes me, set in the most beautiful location with drop down views over the bay of Yalikavak. It's a shame that there are a couple of negative reviews on here but reading through them I notice that the recent complaints haven't actually been about the hotel but rather external factors. October is the end of the season and beaches closing and work being carried out on other buildings are sadly out of Ali's control but knowing how he works - if he could fix that then he would!
This was my first visit to the Bodrum area of Turkey and I was not disappointed. 4Reasons was recommended to me by a friend and lived up to its fantastic reputation.
It is situated in a stunning setting with beautiful views of the sunsets. The rooms are immaculately clean and comfortable andthe food at the hotel was as good as any restaurant and service was consistently attentive.
Ali, the hotel manager went above and beyond the call of duty, recommending places to visit, some to avoid and booking whatever I required. I would have no hesitation in recommending 4Reasons to my friends and family and I will definitely be making a return trip (or two)!
We arrived on October 7th at this small 20 room hotel to a rather brusque welcome. When enquiring a short time later about the shuttle to the beach club we were told that the beach club had closed on September 15th, querying this we were told that it was now the winter season and that this information was on the hotel website. Explaining that there was no mention of this on the website the member of staff told us that it was, asking him to check he then agreed that there was no mention of it. This was a big disappointment and we would not have booked this hotel if we had known that the beach club and transport were unavailable.
We had booked a “casual room”, a good size with three comfortable chairs, and a bathroom with a double walk in shower. The food at the hotel was good.
The hotel is in quite an isolated position, a half hour walk into Yalikavak, the last fifteen minutes along a main road.
The hotel was very quiet, five couples when we arrived on the Saturday, four on the Sunday, three on the Monday and just two on the Tuesday. On the Monday the staff started cutting down vegetation around the perimeter of the pool and hotel and they started a bonfire on a piece of adjacent land. Fortunately during the day the wind was blowing away from the hotel but during the evening the wind changed and we had the smell of smoke in our room, we had to ask staff twice to do something about this. During our stay there was also noisy building work being carried out on the adjacent land with a drilling rig, bulldozers and a drill breaking rocks.
On the Tuesday morning during breakfast a JCB arrived in the road outside and started ripping out trees on the adjacent property, noisy, smoky and dusty. Complaining to the manager, he explained that there was not a lot he could do about this. At this point we decided to move hotels.
Without this building work we would have stayed at the hotel for the remainder of the week and enjoyed our stay
The hotel was recommended to us and we were really disappointed.
