Overview

Fabulous five-star South Africa stay at ultra-luxe boutique hotel in the stunning province of Mpumalanga, with optional half board

The Lowdown

Dewy-eyed romantics who fancy a soul-stirring safari jaunt without roughing it under canvas can expect to be blown away by this five-star boutique property in Mpumalanga – the so-called “land of the rising sun” that extends east from Gauteng to Mozambique and Swaziland. As location’s go, it doesn’t get better; not least because you’ll be so close to Kruger National Park – the Big Five winner that’s home to more species of large mammals than any other African game reserve.
There’s just eight incredibly luxurious suites here, all of which feature French boutique-chic decor (crystal chandeliers, lavish fabrics, elegant hand-painted furniture, statement-making wall coverings) as well as king-size beds swathed in high-thread count cottons. A terrace with private Jacuzzi, outdoor day bed, fireplace, flatscreen TV with satellite channels, DVD player, and gorgeous bathroom with bathrobes, slippers and toiletries complete the lovely touches.
Elsewhere, you’ll find an outdoor pool lined with sunloungers, beautiful gardens, and an excellent all-day restaurant for freshly-prepared dishes created with in-season and organic ingredients (many of which are grown on the hotel’s farm). There’s also a deep spa menu for splurge-worthy beauty rituals, all of which can be enjoyed in the privacy of your opulent suite.

A gem

This was our third stay at the Belgrace and we will be back. The service, food quality and accommodation could not be faulted. Try to book the Presidential Suite as it has an in-room Jacuzzi and a spacious deck with a view - although the accommodation in all rooms is excellent.

This is not a 5 star Hotel neither is it a Hotel. Service is only between 7 and 9. There is no manager and no reception only Prince and Nonny who is the waiter, porter, barman etc.. no one to complain with no one attending to the front desk only at check out after 4 nights miraculously someone appeared, to receive payment of course. The breakfast is exactly the same every single morning and also not served as a buffet but a la carte. Towels is worn and grayish ( suppose to be white) bedding worn and grayish. Had to sleep on a 40 plus year old coil mattress. Soap not replenished, only one small soap bar on the first day between 4 people thereafter nothing again. Road is very noisy. No place to put your suitcase in room. And you dont want to use the loose standing cupboard, that thing is scary, a painted old junk shop cupboard , it is so old and worn. The furniture in the room is mostly old africana furniture that looks like the ones that came from my great grandmothers house. There was an unbearable stench in the room that smelled like some kind of polish, I dont know if is what they used on the tiles or what it was. The toilet seat was a very unhygeneic old wooden toilet seat and the shower head is also not adjustable, in order to open the shower tap you have to get wet. You are also unable to call from you room as there is a phone but the line is to bad so you have to walk over to the main house every time you need something. This place certainly did not come cheap and was a total ripoff, rather spent your money elsewhere. There where also a lot of spiders in the room which were very conserning as we had our two small children with us.

An amazing Gem !

On a recent visit to the Timbavati area, we needed to find overnight accomodation in Nelspruit for two nights. We were very fortunate to find this really special place, while close to the Kruger International Mpumlanga Airport, once you have entered the premises you feel totally ensconced in a quiet tranquil environment. The service, food and location are amazing. The folk who look after you could not have been helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We will go back.
