How to Get There
This was hotel was fantastic, I loved it. A beautiful traditional Mexican hacienda property with a boutique feel, with very warm and friendly staff. We went for an anniversary and they surprised us with a free dessert while we were at the pool.
The room was very nice, clean, comfortable/large bed and had all the the amenities. LOVED the pool, beautiful and perfect for relaxing and sunbathing with pool chairs and cabanas. Very likely a new weekend getaway for us.
As noted by others, this is a hacienda. As soon as you set foot in the inner courtyard, you step into paradise. Well, isn't that why you came to magical Cuernavaca in the first place? Cortez was a murderer and a thief, but he was not stupid. Why do you think he chose this town to build his palace (see the footnote)? The courtyard is also where the restaurant is, the food was very tasty. The room was very pleasant and comfy. The service is out of this world. You can feel that every single person -from the restaurant to the management, to the room service- is trying very hard to provide you the best service for the most pleasant experience. Yes, this is what you should normally receive at a 5 star establishment, but the feeling here was much different. Genuine and complete. One of the managers, Sra. Morales, was super nice and sweet. She emailed me prior to arrival and offered help if I had any requests or needed anything. She also informed me about the shuttle service (private car) that could take me from the airport for a fee if I wanted. Yes, there are very comfy and convenient coaches from the airport to Cuernavaca (also cheap) but I had an eventful flight so I arranged for the hotel shuttle through Sra. Morales for roughly $70 dollars. The driver Sr. Ortiz was very professional and the ride was very comfortable. For me, it has been a great decision. Compared to Uber in DFW, this price for the 90 - 100 minute ride (depending on traffic out of Mexico City) from the Airport to the hotel was great value. I was so happy with the service, I hired Sr.Ortiz for other rides (such as visiting Tepoztlan--which is a different review). There is also Uber which is great as well.
Sra. Morales has continued to provide great service all along answering questions, making suggestions as well as the rest of the staff. Huge thanks to Sra. Morales and the entire staff.
Definitely will return. Fabulous experience.
Footnote: Unfortunately only a portion of the ground floor of the Cortez Palace (Museo Regional Cuauhnahuac) is open for visitors. The rest of the building was closed for repairs after the Sept. 2017 earthquakes.
If you want to enjoy Curnavaca with a taste of a traditional Hacienda but at the same time a modern hotel and SPA, you should visit Anticavilla located in what used to be Hacienda Agueda. The food is great and people are very focused on service. Great for a family event!
