Miramar La Cigale
How to Get There
The hotel is brand new, large and comfortable rooms, a big indoor pool, large Jacuzzi, two (rather expensive) restaurants, free valet parking and very friendly staff. The view from the room window is breath taking.
The hotel is situated very near to the port and beach and is handy for lovely walks. The staff at reception and the concierge staff are very helpful. The hotel is very clean, and the superior sea front rooms are spacious. Good quality toiletries are provided but unfortunately no shampoo nor conditioner is provided. Bath robes and slippers are available as is a Nespresso coffee machine. The bed and linen are of excellent quality and the hotel is very quiet and peaceful with a wonderful sea view.
The Safran restaurant is poorly managed and a disgrace to the hotel! Reservations are not respected. They take reservations but do not allocate tables to hotel guests, so tables are allocated on a first come first served basis, irrespective of whether you have booked or not, resulting in 45 minutes to 1 hour wait for a table despite having reserved. Not acceptable for a 5* hotel. There was a long wait during the Sunday evening buffet for the sea food to be replenished. Hot plates were available for the cold food and frequently, plates were not even available. Spoons for desert were also missing. Staff initially refused to serve coffee at the table - again unacceptable. Value for money and service leaves a lot to be desired. As a result, we decided not to eat in either of the hotel restaurants again during our stay.
The Thalassa area is very pleasant but needs renovation. Peeling paint and rust was noted. The staff are not at all welcoming. Additional towels are not available, so you must walk the length of the hotel, past the spa reception to request a dry one which is given reluctantly.
The choice for breakfast is very good but the cooked breakfast is lukewarm. No value for money.
I booked this after seeing great reviews on Trip Advisor and absolutely loved it. It's not cheap but well worth the money. Amazing spa - almost 50 treatment rooms, brilliant pools and jacuzzis. My room was fab - I think it was the biggest bed I've ever slept in and super comfy. Short walk to the beach, a few steps to the cute little seaside resort of port de Crouesty which has everything you need. I'll go back to this hotel because when I left I felt like a new woman - refreshed, reinvigorated, not tired but full of energy. I only stayed for 4 nights but the effect was the same as if I'd taken a much longer holiday. The weather wasn't brilliant but it didn't matter one bit. I will say - it's very French admin wise in that booking in takes time as you have to wait for a receptionist to be free to sit with you at a desk (I waited about 15 mins and it was a quiet day) and fill in forms. Then when it came to spa bookings there was queuing again as our room cards weren't credited with the treatments we booked in advance but - minor points for how I felt after a break here.
